I was not on my game today. I called
a bird a northern mockingbird and proceeded to try and get a photo of it. It didn't stick around long, but only after returning to the store and looking carefully at the picture did I realize that it really was a sage thrasher. If you learn nothing else as a birder, you do learn about humility - repeatedly.

Western Wood-Pewee

We found this nest overhanging South Boulder Creek. We also saw house wrens feeding young nearby. So, obviously, nesting season hasn't finished for everyone. These pewees are nesting late probably because they started over after some tragedy befell their first attempt. This is not my best photographic effort, but I did take it this morning of the nest were watching.
