We went on a little adventure this morning to East Longmont. August bird watching for me means shore birds and the best place for that is usually Union Reservoir. There were loads of herons and egrets at both Jim Hamm and Union. Also, good numbers of raptors.

Red-tailed Hawk

We saw a lot of great birds today, but the red-tail just sat on the fence and we got great looks at it from close range. In all, it seemed more like a raptor day than a shore bird day. All Bird of the Day photos in this edition were taken by Steve Frye on today's walk.
