Every Saturday year-round. No reservations required.  Every last Saturday of the month we travel further afield than normal and return a little later.  Bird Walk locations are determined on the morning of the walk.All ages and birding abilities are welcome!

binoculars and child Late summer birding is coming quickly upon us. That means you really have to search for birds. They are not as conspicuous and are much quieter than a few weeks ago (and some have already left). But perseverance can pay off.

This was a hard one
to find. We heard many throughout the morning, but it wasn't until the
end of the walk that
we really got to see the gnatcatcher. They are
a little like a miniature mockingbird (in appearance). Listen
for their pesky noises when you are in the foothills. This blue-gray gnatcatcher image was taken on today's bird walk by Steve Frye. Thanks also to Neal Zaun for the spotted towhee image from today's bird walk (below).
