The purpose of life is not to just be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all. ~Leo Rosten. Today matters. This email matters.
Since 2000, Urban Ed has been introducing youth (ages 5 - 24) to the power of technology through various forms of training and career development. In fact, Urban Ed has helped more than 700 youth and young adults and has provided more than 68,000 hours of technical education helping 85% those serviced remain in school or gain meaningful employment.
I recall a recent participant, Monique, who at 21, found herself living in a shelter with her two sons (ages 2 and 4) receiving $60 per month in public assistance. She cried daily because of her circumstances, but managed to deliver the dedication required to complete the Urban Ed employment program. Monique now has her Microsoft Office certifications and is earning nearly $19 per hour as an IT training instructor. She has made life different. She is making life matter.
http://www.urbaned.org/invest_in_UrbanEd.htmDuring these economic times everyone is being challenged to do more with less. This makes the mission of Urban Ed even more critical. Now is not the time to pull back on preparing our youth and young adults. They need our help. We need your help.
As the president of Urban Ed, I am making a personal request, with high hopes, that you will aid me in continuing to build this phenomenal organization. Your schedule may not allow for a steady contribution of time, which is why I am asking that you join me in making a tax deductible financial contribution to the mission of Urban Ed by clicking the link found in this email. No matter how small or large, it makes a difference. It matters.
