The Producers
Potel
Aviron Universally considered the very best grower wine maker in all of
Beaujolais and almost never found in the Mid-Atlantic
states. We tasted his 2007s
and were blown away. These are not
wimpy, bubble gum cotton candy, fruit bomb Beaujolais. These are serious wines that truly resemble
the very best unoaked California
and Oregon Pinots. Henry
Fessy The two Fessy brothers began buying barrels of special Beaujolais in the late 1960s. Later, they separated into two different
"houses." Henry visits hundreds of estates
and only buys those individual barrels he falls in love with. As a result, his wines are classic examples
of just what Beaujolais cru is supposed to
be. A few months ago, you may recall
reading about some of these in Tom Marquardt's Capital Wine Column! J.J.
Vincent Owner of Chateau de Fuisse in Pouilly Fuisse and generally
considered the finest grower in Macon, Vincent
has expanded to two separate Cru estates in Beaujolais
over the last decade. Extremely rare,
NEVER before shipped to the Mid-Atlantic region. These are surprisingly BIG wines. NOT A CRU BEAUJOLAIS BUT READ ON Domaine
Pierre Guindon
Coteaux
d'Ancenis
GAMAY
Red
and Rose 2009 We
simply couldn't resist these Gamay's
from the Loire valley, directly across the Loire River
from Muscadet. Guindon is one of the
top Muscadet producers and he has an organic vineyard in the tiny Ancenis
(Pronounced Ahn-sen-nay) region of the Loire. The Red has a Loire
tilt on the same theme as our Pinot Noir battle and the Rose is simply
delightful. In our crusade to discover
excellent unknown French wines, we present these to our customers.

After this note you, will be able to read all about Dark Horse Winery, their winemaker, and all their exploits. We just wanted try to lasso you with these comments, cowpoke. Yahooooooo!
For years, Dark Horse has been the ultimate producer of small lot selections from great wineries in great locations like Howell Mountain, York Creek, Mt Veeder, Spring Mountain, the list goes on. Getting them in Maryland was next to impossible. Mills has found the way, and is offering only 10 cases of the famous Andrew Peacock, Mt Veeder Reserve Cabernet at a price that is exceptional. Read the following, and imagine yourself with Zane Gray or Jack London drinking Peacock Cabernet. - PF
About The Winemaker -
Named 2007 Winemaker of the Year by the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, winemaker Michael Loykasek has been blazing new trails throughout California for the past two decades.
Fresh out of U.C. Davis with a degree in enology in 1983, Mike spent 5 years developing his winemaking style in Paso Robles. From there, he pointed his saddle north to God's Country - Sonoma County - to head up the winemaking program at Meeker Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. His 40ft. Sioux Tipi Tasting Room became a local legend and was as popular as his wines.
But you know what they say about the seven year itch, even cowboys get 'em, so one fine day he went for a ride and pulled up at Armida Winery, where he headed up their winemaking for another 6 years.
Well, we've also got a saying about the number 13. Indeed, after 13 years making wine for good friends in Dry Creek Valley, Mike decided it was time to let the Dark Horse out of the barn, so to speak.
And ever since, he's been hittin' the trails with the Dark Horse. The concept is simple: take small lots of exceptional wine and put it in a package that folks can't help but notice, and have some fun with it along the way!

California Pre-Sell
|
Gary's Vineyard, Monterey California |
Tantara Winery
Santa Maria, California
Tantara "Legerdemain" Syrah 2005 Central Coast
A Very
Special Pre-Sell
(Wines
arrive June 8)
We've seen prices from
$35 to $100 around the USA So the real "Regular"
price is truly irregular..... Mills Price $29.99 (No Further Discounts Available) We asked Tantara's
Owner, Jeffrey Fink, to bring us something very special that was rarely seen
outside of California
and this is what he chose. His Pinot
Noir and Chardonnay can be found from time to time, but his Syrah is usually
sold from the winery only.
"Legerdemain" is as rare as it gets, and we asked Why? Two of the best and
most famous vineyards of Southern California are: The Bien Nacido Vineyard, and Gary's Vineyard. Wines made from these grapes rarely sell for
less than $50 per bottle. In a special experiment
sanctioned by both vineyards Tantara
made a Syrah blend from BOTH of them!
This is totally unheard of. To
even further the mystique, they gave the wine extra age in the barrel and in
the bottle and just recently released the 2005. We simply couldn't
believe the quality and balance, and made a great deal for the entire first
shipment available for the Maryland/DC area.
There will be more coming for restaurant accounts, but our first
shipment might be the entire retail allocation for the 2005 Vintage. This is really a
pre-sell. We don't even have any samples
to offer you for tasting. Place your
orders with a payment method to insure getting some. |

June Feature - Australia | |
Gary told us to move out a whole bunch of Australian Wines, so we selected 26 different exceptional Aussie Classics and put them on sale! We have multiple cases of some and on others we are down to just bottles. This is the opportunity to get some great wines at spectacular prices (I sound like a used car salesperson, huh?)
All of the following are subject to prior sale! We can't re-order any of these. All orders must be accompanied with payment. We will NOT be opening any of these for tasting.
This sale has been a tremendous success, we'd all like to thank you all! As we cleared the warehouse, we began to find more items. The updated list is below with what is still for sale. Remember these are moving fast and all items are being sold first come first served. All orders must be accompanied with a credit card to be held.

NEW ZEALAND - Moa Original Bottle conditioned with champagne yeast - Moa Original is a an effervescent pilsner-style beer from New Zealand.
