We've looked for some of the finest beers, ciders, and meads to represent teams participating in the 2010 World Cup!

ARGENTINA - Jerome The good folks at Jerome have been making quality beers since the early 1980s. Taking full advantage of the thriving Mendoza wine scene, Jerome uses wine barrels to age their beers, giving them great complexity and depth.
BRAZIL - Xingu Black Beer Looks like a heavy stout or porter in the glass, but is totally light and drinkable. A great beer that has a devoted following!
NEW ZEALAND - Moa Original Bottle conditioned with champagne yeast - Moa Original is a an effervescent pilsner-style beer from New Zealand.
ENGLAND - Fullers London Porter Since the 18th Century, Porter has been the drink of England's working class. Today rich, nutty Porters are enjoyed around the world. Fullers is one of the finest.

About The Winemaker -
Named 2007 Winemaker of the Year by the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, winemaker Michael Loykasek has been blazing new trails throughout California for the past two decades.
Fresh out of U.C. Davis with a degree in enology in 1983, Mike spent 5 years developing his winemaking style in Paso Robles. From there, he pointed his saddle north to God's Country - Sonoma County - to head up the winemaking program at Meeker Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. His 40ft. Sioux Tipi Tasting Room became a local legend and was as popular as his wines.
But you know what they say about the seven year itch, even cowboys get 'em, so one fine day he went for a ride and pulled up at Armida Winery, where he headed up their winemaking for another 6 years.
Well, we've also got a saying about the number 13. Indeed, after 13 years making wine for good friends in Dry Creek Valley, Mike decided it was time to let the Dark Horse out of the barn, so to speak.
And ever since, he's been hittin' the trails with the Dark Horse. The concept is simple: take small lots of exceptional wine and put it in a package that folks can't help but notice, and have some fun with it along the way!

California Pre-Sell
|
Gary's Vineyard, Monterey California |
Tantara Winery
Santa Maria, California
Tantara "Legerdemain" Syrah 2005 Central Coast
A Very
Special Pre-Sell
(Wines
arrive June 8)
We've seen prices from
$35 to $100 around the USA So the real "Regular"
price is truly irregular..... Mills Price $29.99 (No Further Discounts Available) We asked Tantara's
Owner, Jeffrey Fink, to bring us something very special that was rarely seen
outside of California
and this is what he chose. His Pinot
Noir and Chardonnay can be found from time to time, but his Syrah is usually
sold from the winery only.
"Legerdemain" is as rare as it gets, and we asked Why? Two of the best and
most famous vineyards of Southern California are: The Bien Nacido Vineyard, and Gary's Vineyard. Wines made from these grapes rarely sell for
less than $50 per bottle. In a special experiment
sanctioned by both vineyards Tantara
made a Syrah blend from BOTH of them!
This is totally unheard of. To
even further the mystique, they gave the wine extra age in the barrel and in
the bottle and just recently released the 2005. We simply couldn't
believe the quality and balance, and made a great deal for the entire first
shipment available for the Maryland/DC area.
There will be more coming for restaurant accounts, but our first
shipment might be the entire retail allocation for the 2005 Vintage. This is really a
pre-sell. We don't even have any samples
to offer you for tasting. Place your
orders with a payment method to insure getting some. |

June Feature - Australia | |
Gary told us to move out a whole bunch of Australian Wines, so we selected 26 different exceptional Aussie Classics and put them on sale! We have multiple cases of some and on others we are down to just bottles. This is the opportunity to get some great wines at spectacular prices (I sound like a used car salesperson, huh?)
All of the following are subject to prior sale! We can't re-order any of these. All orders must be accompanied with payment. We will NOT be opening any of these for tasting.
This sale has been a tremendous success, we'd all like to thank you all! As we cleared the warehouse, we began to find more items. The updated list is below with what is still for sale. Remember these are moving fast and all items are being sold first come first served. All orders must be accompanied with a credit card to be held.

Mills Wine Consultant
It
is the perfect time of the year to turn to Chinon, one of the most delicious
offerings of pure, unblended Cabernet Franc in the world, for your red wine
selection. Made in the middle Loire Valley
in France,
Chinon is lighter bodied than Cabernet Sauvignon and perfectly accompanies
summer dishes and cheeses. The Mills
team wants you to discover Chinon and thus we are featuring Bernard Baudry's
"Les Granges" Chinon (2007) at a special
$11.99/bottle price , a 40% discount off the shelf price.
Bernard Baudry, one of the top-rated Chinon
producers, grew the 100% Cabernet Franc fruit for this wine on young vines
planted on gravely and sandy soil on a clayey-silica subsoil on a family
vineyard plot in the village
of Cravant. "Les Granges" is the first release of
Bernard's Chinon from those young wines.
The wine's nose is delicate with a
earthy edge that breathes of its terroir, and the taste is a delightful mix of
fruit and minerality that finishes smooth on the palate with a lingering
earthiness in the mouth that is unique to Chinon and extremely refreshing. Drinkable now through 2011, "Les Granges"
received a 90 point rating from the Wine Spectator (December 31, 2009). Stop by Mills to indulge in some Chinon at
this incredible price!

Eddy Family

Eddy FamilyMaking wine has been, and always will be, our passion, our work and our play. - Tom Eddy |
"Elodian"
Pinot Noir 2006
Willamette Valley, Yamill-Carlton District
Sold Nationally
At $40 and up
Mills' Sale Price
$19.99
Tom Eddy is one of the most iconic wine making figures of California. He was at Berkley with Michael Mondavi, Michael Martini,
and a host of other famous winemakers.
After a career starting some of the most famous wineries, he has been
making his own wines from carefully selected vineyards all over California. After tasting some great Oregon Pinot Noir,
Tom had to try one for himself. The
Elodian Pinot Noir is just that wine.
The Maryland Wholesaler asked for a pallet and got 10 cases. How was he going to divide up 10 cases
amongst the fine wine retailers and restaurants of this State? We made it easy for him - offered a price for
all of it and got it!
So here's the deal, we have the wine right now at Mills! When it is gone we can only hope to see
another vintage at some point in the future and expect to pay between $50 and
$100. - PF
Winemaking Notes:
Copious amounts of rain throughout the winter and early spring
ensured that the 2006 vines would be vigorous in growth and at least
average in yield. Both heat spikes and conversely cool temperatures in
the summer slowed the physiology of the vines down causing a late
harvest for most of the Napa
Valley. Due to
naturally cooler temperatures in the Napa mountains, the Cabernets from
these regions weathered the tough summer heat. Coupled with careful
fruit thinning and meticulous vineyard management, the 2006 harvest for Napa mountain
fruit turned out to be surprisingly first-rate and is considered one of
the most powerful vintages of the decade.
Tasting Notes:
The 2006 Elodian
Cabernet Sauvignon is infused with aromas and flavors of black cherry
and plum that elegantly commingle with subtle clove and nutmeg. The
mouthfeel is rich and full with sturdy but velvety tannin. The acid is
lean and balanced making this a great, food-friendly wine, perfectly
paired with a big juicy steak or pasta with marinara. A large dollop oak
adds a layer of vanilla and toast making the wine vibrant and complex.
Three different types of oak stemming from France,
America and Hungary
bring into balance the unique qualities these three oak-producing
regions have to offer. This wine is ready to drink now but with great
potential to age for decades to come. Cheers!

Beer News
|
This Week Oskar Blues revolutionized the craft beer scene when they began canning their hoppy Dale's Pale Ale. Canned beer is more convenient, more environmentally friendly, and the modern can is lined with a special coating so that beer and metal do not meet. Also, cans stay colder longer and are much better at keeping out air and light.
We Will be Opening the Following Dale's Pale Ale - America's first hand-canned craft beer is a voluminously hopped mutha
that delivers a hoppy nose, assertive-but-balanced flavors of pale malts
and hops from start to finish. First canned in 2002, Dale's Pale Ale is
a hearty (6.5% and 65 IBUs), critically acclaimed trailblazer that has
changed the way craft beer fiends perceive canned beer. - $8.99/6 pack
Mama's Litle Yella Pils - Oskar Blues' newest beer is an uncompromising, small-batch version of
the beer that made Pilsen, Czech Republic famous. Unlike mass market
"pilsners" diluted with corn & rice, Mama's is built with 100% pale
malt, German specialty malts, and Bavarian hops. While it's rich with
Czeched-out flavor, its gentle hopping (35 IBUs) and low ABV (just 5.3%)
make it a luxurious but low-dose (by Oskar Blues standards) refresher.- $8.99/6 pack
And, Surprises!
As always, our tastings are free, so feel free to bring a friend. This will be hosted in store from 2-5 pm!
