Book Your Lunch with South Carolina Columnist & Author Ken Burger

Baptized in Sweet Tea Greenville, SC, September 17, 2012 - Book Your Lunch with South Carolina columnist and author Ken Burger on Friday, October 12th, from 12-2 pm at The Lazy Goat in Greenville. Tickets are $25 each and must be purchased in advance at http://www.bookyourlunch.com or by calling Fiction Addiction at 864-675-0540.

After almost 40 years as a journalist covering sports, business, politics, and life in the Palmetto State, Ken Burger will talk about his life as a columnist at one of the South's most well-known newspapers. Ken is one of the South's most beloved authors, and his new award-winning book, Baptized in Sweet Tea (Evening Post, paperback, $21.95), collects his columns celebrating the South.

Veteran Southern writer Ken Burger turns his daily news columns into a witty and insightful book filled with unforgettable images, incidents, and characters from all aspects of Southern culture.

Awarded the Independent Book Publishers Association 2012 Gold Medal in the Gift Book category, Baptized in Sweet Tea commemorates all that Ken loves about the South. This book is for an older southerner who longs to remember . . . for a younger southerner who's only heard tell . . . even for a non-southerner who simply had no idea. There are words of wisdom here, but also prayers of confession. There is humor and pathos, but never too much of either, always just enough.

While he may have been baptized in sweet tea, Burger's essays are steeped in a bittersweet nostalgia for a way of life that's passing into memory . . . and a reverence for those timeless qualities that abide.

This sweet tea goes down easily.

"Baptized in Sweet Tea is written with the warmth and wit of a Southern storyteller at his best. Ken Burger's collection of columns are filled with unforgettable images, incidents, and people from different aspects of southern culture. I recommend that you sit on the porch with this book and a glass of sweet tea and enjoy every word."  - Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling Southern author
