Greetings!

In this issue: Message from Andrea Tips for "Baring Arms" What am I up to? Fashion Q & A
Time is my new Mantra! The Seasons change so quickly, which means that time is also moving faster than I would like. I don't know if it is a sign of the times or a sign that we are not taking the time.
I am so glad I took the TIME last Thursday to join daughter, granddaughter and lot's of other families to enjoy a night of music food and laughter. Odion Point in Rye, NH was the setting for a Raggae Band and a spectacular view of the ocean. The grounds were covered with blankets and chairs, children were climbing the rocks ( not grandma) having a picnic, every one dancing to the Raggae music ( me too). It doesn't get any better!
Every time I do something like this I am reminded of all the wonderful things that bring us simple joy. Spending time with family and friends, being in a place that nurtures your soul, doing the little things fulfill us in life.
Give yourself the gift of TIME ~Andrea

Fashion Q & A
Q: I read the book " I feel bad about my neck". What I feel bad about are my arms! What can I wear that doesn't bring attention to them? A: Summer is especially challenging because it is hot and less seems to be the thing. Stay away from sleeves
that are too tight, like anyplace else on your body, tight only makes
it look worse. Try a loose cap sleeve or a shrug. A light weight linen,
with a loose sleeve is fresh and cool. Wear something to bring the eye up to your
face, creative jewelry, or a scarf.
Your smile is the best way to engage and feel empowered.

 The right to "Bare Arms"
SABRINA ELLEN SVARD, BS, CSCS, RYT
Over the past 25 years clients have asked me what is the
best exercise to tone the arms. Some things never change and my answer to this
question hasn't changed (yes, same answer 25 years later!). The best exercise
to tone the arms and then some is (drum roll please): the push up.
I know ladies, not what you wanted to hear. Sorry, but it is absolutely true!
Push ups are fantastic as they not only tone the arms (namely the triceps - you
know - the back of your arm that waves back when you wave...) but also
strengthens the chest muscles (pectoralis major - do enough push ups and you
won't need that push up bra!), strengthen and tone the front of the shoulders
(anterior deltoids to be technical about it) AND (yes, there's more) push ups
strengthen the muscles of the core (the abdominals and spinal muscles as these
muscles stabilize the torso during the exercise). Plus push ups can be done
just about anywhere and no equipment needed - just a willing participant - and
that would be YOU!
Many women dislike doing push ups. That is because they are difficult. So they
don't do them. Because they can't do them. And they don't do them because they
don't like them - because push ups are HARD! I KNOW !!!!! It's a vicious
circle. Time to stop the circle.
The only way push ups become less difficult is to DO THEM! XOXOX Twice a week is a good start. No excuses girls - here are step by step
directions to get you all started:
Drop and give me 50! (Just kidding) On Your Knees 1. Start on all fours 2. Line your wrists up (not your knuckles) under your shoulders 3. Then move your hands out a little wider than your shoulders 4. Move your knees back away from your hands so you create a straight line from
your ear, to your shoulder, to your hip and then knee (do NOT have your butt
sticking up in the air!) 5. Pull your abdominals muscles in but don't hold your breath! 6. Lower your body in that straight line (ear, shoulder, hip, knee) towards the
floor by bending your elbows out to the side until the elbows line up with your
shoulders 7. Keeping your abdominals tight (breathe!) as your straighten your arms
pushing your body back up to your start position Do as many as you can.
Military Push Up (its good to have goals - and this is your new goal!) All the same directions apply as above, however you are now up on the balls of
your feet, not your knees. Make sure you maintain a straight line - ear,
shoulder, hip, heel. Be sure to keep the abdominals tight, don't let your back
sag like a sway-backed mule, and keep your butt out of the air.
Two things to remember: One: some days are better than others. Do what you can and keep trying to
improve. Think positive!!! Two: always consult with your physician before starting an exercise program.

 Create a vision board
I always talk to my clients about how powerful it is to have a vision. How important it is t o know what it is and what it looks like. I urge them to create a collage: representing - very specifically - what they want for and in their life.
Now I have a confession to make: I have not done a collage to mirror my vision up until a month ago!
Now that my 2010 Vision Collage is created, I can now say with conviction: IT IS SO POWERFUL!!
I could not believe my end results, a picture of my ideal self and my ideal life.
I spent a snowy afternoon going through magazines and cutting out pictures that appealed to me, I also clipped sayings that spoke to me in some way. I had no idea what I was going to do with it all, because it didn't seem to have a theme or relationship to my dream. I started to cut and paste haphazardly on a board, and what a story it told! My vison board took on an energy of it's own: as it turns out, I did have a dream and now I know what it looks like!
- Gain clarity about what we want
- Begin to focus energy in that direction
- Allow ourselves to let go of energy that we had previously set into motion
so that we may make space for new future outcomes.
Don't be too focused on the outcome, leave
plenty of room for our highest good to come to us in a slightly different
package. Spend a fair amount of time achieving energetic alignment with the
things, people, opportunities and experiences that we would most like to
attract into our life.
You can have it all, dare to dream. ~Andrea
