"Let the world know you as you are, not as you think you should be,
because sooner or later - if you are posing,
you will forget the pose, and then where are you?"
Fanny Brice
We
are all a sum of our upbringing, relationships, environments. Often these messages or comments define how we define
ourselves later in life.
I have perfect memory of the moment that made me hate wearing glasses!
I was 15 and had a heart wrenching crush on someone; one day
he said to me, "You are so much prettier without your glasses. " With my first paycheck I bought contact lenses. It took
me about 30 years to realize how that one statement affected my self
esteem.
What
messages did you receive in your life that impacted your self-image?
Have you been making style decisions based on what someone said or what
other people think you should look like, or how you should look to fit
in? Should is the important word in that sentence! Instead you should be asking yourself, does this outfit reflect me now? Or does it reflect who I was or feel I should be?
Is it fulfilling me now?
Ask: Is this true? Or was it their truth?
What are you waiting for? Go into your closet and "see the possibilities"!
