B y this time you are probably thinking " I have fallen and I can't get up"!!

It has been that kind of winter, it dragged us down and stomped on us in more ways that one.
I am feeling the  need to break out, throw out, go out, stay out and freak out.   In winter we go to our cave and we surround ourselves with the things that will sustain us through the long cold days. Clothes, comfort foods, cozy lap robes, books, Netflix, etc.  Where did all this stuff come from?  I am shedding "my stuff" as we speak. I did cheat a little and get a jump start on Summer, I went to Ft. Lauderdale in February to teach some great women about Fashion Feng Shui. Evana, the sunshine, her beautiful home and new friends gave me renewed energy.

The idea that we might actually be warm again is enough to propel us forward and do something crazy. This is the time to bring in the new and throw out the old; a time to reflect on how we can  enrich our lives, a time for new growth, self care, reconnecting with friends and shedding all the things that you accumulated to survive the winter.

Where do you begin? Anywhere, it doesn't matter. The sheer force of movement will take on it's own momentum. For me it started with the need to attract a special relationship. I am ready for love!!  When I evaluated my relationship area in my bedroom I realized that I had 2 collages of pictures of my favorite people, my daughter, granddaughter and my new son in law.  Well, I do love them dearly, but that isn't what I am going for. Once I started taking pictures off the wall, that brought me to clearing the clutter in that area, to changing the color of my coverlet to trashing my closet. I took everything out, cleaned around and mindfully replaced only what I love.  Off to the Consignment shop and Goodwill. Having done that, I started on my kitchen. See how it goes. I need to stop here, clearing too much at one time, as the practice of Feng Shui indicates, can cause chaos. So be mindful about your clutter clearing and do it with intention.    Boy, does this feel good!!

Go bravely into your closet and "See the possibilities"!
~Andrea

QAFashion Q & A
Q:  What do I need to have in order to build a core wardrobe? Keep in mind that I am starting from scratch.
A: You need a good foundation, just like when you build a house: you need something to build on. Once you have the foundation you can begin to add the accessories and extra pieces.

Core Wardrobe Basics:
  • 2 trousers
  • 1 jacket to match both (or sweater)
  • 3 blouses ( one neutral to match pants and Jacket) one color, and one print.
  • 2 sweaters

interiorWhat is Feng shui?Feng Shui your Closet

Feng shui (pronounced fung shway) is an ancient Chinese practice that seeks to establish harmony and balance in our lives and in our environment.

It is through the art of placement with intention that Feng Shui can enhance and promote good health, wealth, and happiness. Feng shui brings positive changes into peoples lives:  improving luck, health, abundance, creativity, motivation, relaxation, harmony in relationships, and productive communication.

Feng Shui your Closet

"True elegance consists not in having a closet bursting with clothes, but rather in having a few well-chosen items in which one feels totally at ease"  Coco Channel

Your closet is your wardrobe's habitat, a place of honor for the garments that speak your language and represent who you are today.  Some tips that will help:

Commit: Schedule the time, have a plan.
Clear:
Take everything out, vacuum, paint if necessary.
Sort:
Use boxes or bags.  Remove anything that doesn't fit, you haven't worn in 2 years, or that is torn/stained. Give away, throw away, repair or store separately. Set emotions aside. Less is more.
Evaluate:
Keep only what you love, does it fit, flatter, fulfill?
Categorize: Hang clothes by type, hang by color, light to dark.

The Results: Emotional effect & affect.
Organizing your closet positions clothes for instant visibility and accessibility. You can see the clothes you own. You'll be more focused, save time & money and  you will be in control.
