A Note From Carol
Dear Friends,
I'm excited to tell you that the 14 hour teleseminar with
12 top elder care experts is now available. You
can look into the product by clicking the icon
for "Our Aging Loved Ones," on your right. Planning,
communicating, transitions, legal advice, taking care of
the caregiver (that's me!), and much more is included
in this teleseminar.
I'm going to try to get the word out to as many
businesses as possible, because I see this
information packed CD as the perfect choice for an
employer who wants to help employees with their elder
care issues. Few people will want to listen to 14 hours
straight, but just think of the powerful effect of a string
of weekly brown bags giving answers to caregiver's
dilemmas, stretched over the winter, in an office where
many people are coping with elder care issues. Talk to
your employer about getting a copy.
Cindi Dawson started to face issues with her parents.
She wanted to research options, and felt others would
want to do the same. It's been a long time in
production, but I'think people will find the final product
worth the wait. There's a free link offered that gives you
an hour's worth of information - just a taste of the real
thing.
Other things we are addressing in the issue of MOE
Ezine are handling the shock of an Alzheimer's
diagnosis, being aware of the power of words, and an
excellent product that helps people track symptoms
and learn to cope when a loved one has dementia,
called Dementia Guide.
I hope you enjoy this issue of Minding Our Elders.
Remember to take care of yourself, the caregiver.

Grieving the Diagnosis: The Long and Winding Road
|
|
Jim was thrilled to have reached senior partner status
in the large law firm where he'd worked for the last ten
years. This was a time of celebration for Jim and his
wife of thirty years, Marie. Their grown son and his
family would be proud.
There was only one sticky detail that spoiled Jim's joy.
Last week, on the way to work, Jim had gotten lost. He
had made a turn at a detour and forgotten he'd made
that turn. He just kept on driving, until he was several
miles passed his destination. Finally, his head
cleared, and he was able to find his way back. This
incident would have been disturbing under any
circumstances, but a month ago he may have chalked
it up to distractions at work. However, he'd done a
similar thing a couple of weeks before. And, lately, he
would sometimes - just for a moment - forget what an
object he'd just pick up was used for. It was eerie.

Stress Management and The Power of Words
|
|
Another terrific article by Barbara Mascio, Senior
Approved Services!
Are you choosing your words or do they simply fly out of
your mouth without control? Tired of feeling as though
no one understands you? Frustrated by the fact that
those you are trying to help seem to be agitated by
you? Or perhaps you're in a management position and
find yourself completely at your wits end getting your
point heard?
