SCOTT HAS BEEN CONJURING IN THE DELI

Scott Pierson, Deli Manager, Has Been Working Overtime To Come Up With Some New Creations In The Deli Case

Scott has been experimenting with new tastes to titillate your palate. Of course we who work at the Co-op are the lucky or unlucky ones (depending on the stage of the creation) that get to critique the on-going process. Mmmm, too much of this or not enough of that. Scott is like the mad scientist when creating his potions but when he has completed his masterpiece it is delicious.

A Deal You Can't Refuse To the left Scott is ready to place his newest sandwich offering, the Buffalo Seitan Sandwich, on the Deli Sammie Shelf. Scott specifically made sure he tried this sandwich out on our General Manager, Travis Hance. Travis relayed to Scott what his taste buds were telling him and Scott then finished his masterpiece with that information in hand. THE RESULT? AWSOME!!!! It contains stretch bread, Seitan (vital wheat gluten, garbanzo flour, garlic), Celery, lettuce, hot sauce (cayenne, vinegar, water, salt, garlic), Vegan ranch (water, soybean oil, soy milk, white vinegar, agave, salt onion powder, garlic powder, xanthan gum, tofu powder, parsley, black pepper), vegenaise.

At right is a picture of Scott's new Curried Chickpea Salad. Salad This salad is a combination of organic Garbanzo beans, canola oil, organic lemon juice, organic red peppers, raw cashews, liquid aminos, agave nectar, curry, organic cumin and salt. Next time you are in the Co-op check out the Deli Shelf for this great summer salad.

The third new item is the 3 Bean Salad. It's a combination of Kidney Beans, Pinto Beans, Great Northern Beans, Celery, Red Onions, Deli Kalamata Olives, Bubbies Pickles, Annies Balsamic Vinegarette, Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic, Liquid Amino, Cumin, Salt and Pepper. At left is a view of the many deli offerings available at the Co-op. Scott says, "Come in and try one."

 Vapeur Aged Beers

This week we get three beers from Brasserie a Vapeur that have been cellared to perfection at the brewery. First is Vapeur Cochonne, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale brewed in 1996, this beer is nearly old enough to drink itself, and tastes acidicly tart and dark fruity. Next is the Vapeur en Folie, a staff favorite, this Belgian Strong Pale was brewed in 1998, which has light fruit notes and is super dry and has a tart sourness. Finally, the Saison de Pipaix from 2003, this saison has aged with grace, and has a crisp and sour flavor, perfectly refreshing for a hot summer day.
