Up ahead in March 2010 SOTO-USA will be representing the SOT community at the RAC/ACC conferences for its 10th year in a row having a paper accepted for presentation. Just around the corner (February 26, 2010) SOTO-USA will be at the American Alliance of TMD Organizations meeting, where SOTO-USA is the only chiropractic-based group.

But with exciting new news of paper acceptance at three prestigious conferences it was difficult to wait for the March update to share the great news. SOTO-USA has 7 papers accepted for three conferences: World Congress on Lower Back Pain, Association for the History of Chiropractic Conference, and the World Congress for Brain Injury.

World Congress on Lower Back Pain

 November 9-12, 2010 - Los Angeles, California

The World Congress Series on Low Back and Pelvic Pain was initiated to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge and consensus on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic lumbopelvic pain.

  • 1995 La Jolla, USA
  • 1998 Vienna, Austria
  • 2001 Montreal, Canada
  • 2004 Melbourne, Australia
  • 2007 Barcelona, Spain
  • 2010 Los Angeles, USA

This congress operates in agreement with the policy of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and the Office of Continuing Medical Education. The mission of this office is to research, develop and provide quality postgraduate medical education that maintains, develop or increases knowledge, skills and professional performance of physicians and health care providers who serve patients, the public and the profession. The content of the education program is determined by rigorous assessment, medical practice, literature and chart review.

Association for the History of Chiropractic

 Mar 21-23, 2010 - St Louis, Missouri

The Association for the History of Chiropractic is an international association founded in 1980 to promote the scholarly recording of the profession's history. To fulfill its mission, the AHC publishes the journal Chiropractic History and books that are within its scope.

The 30th Annual Conference, 21-23 May 2010, will take place in St. Louis, in conjunction with the anniversary of Logan College of Chiropractic. This is the AHC's annual meeting for the conduct of business, election of officers, presentation of papers and awards.

At this conference SOTO-USA will have a platform presentation entitled, "

The development of sacro occipital technique (SOT) occipital fiber technique: A historical case report."
Major B. DeJarnette, DC, DO (deceased) and Charles L. Blum, DC.

This is an interesting paper, which uses Dr. DeJarnette as a co-author since it incorporates a case history he used in one of his articles.

World Congress on Brain Injury

 Washington, DC - March 10-14, 2010

The International Brain Injury Association was founded by George A. Zitnay, PhD and Martin B. Foil, Jr in 1993 following an international meeting on brain injury held in Oxford, United Kingdom at Oxford University in April of 1993. The formation of IBIA came as a recommendation by the group assembled in Oxford that a need existed for an international organization that worked with professionals, and families from a multidisciplinary approach.

IBIA was established to encourage international exchange of information, to support research, to provide training especially in developing countries and to advocate for brain injury. One of the approaches taken by IBIA was the creation of the World Congress on Brain Injury.

The following paper was accepted for this year's conference: "

Chiropractic Cranial Treatment Protocol Increases Successful Outcome of the Multidisciplinary Care Model for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Patients.
"
Esther M, Remeta, DC and Charles L. Blum, DC.

The Alaskan Cruise - SOT Cranial Clinical Gems

Cruise By special request and popular demand, summer 2010 will be one of those summers to remember. SOTO-USA will host an Alaska cruise with 4 special excursion stops.

The month of July is the perfect time to visit Alaska, it is the time of the midnight sun, the weather is comfortable (70-80° F), is before the August mosquito season, and magical time of the year in our northern most state.

There will also be 12 hours of CE credit available by attending the two 6 hour classroom days (those days that are the "at sea days").

"A great vacation environment to learn filled with new explorations and wonderful adventures." Marc G, Pick, DC
