CDBF 2011 July 30-31 Sloan's Lake Park

News from the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
AUGUST 19, 2011

Welcome!
Erin Yoshimura, CDBF Executive Director

Dear CDBF Community-

Thank you so much for supporting the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, and for coming out to Sloan's Lake Park for CDBF 2011!

With the 11th annual festival behind us, we can take a breather and a look back at this year's accomplishments. We hope you had a great time this year, whether you came on your own or with your family and frends.

If you participated as a race team member, I hope your team did well! If you participated as a performer, vendor or volunteer, I thank you for your involvement. Your committment to the festival enriches the event and helps make it go smoothly, which it certainly did this year!

I also want to send a heart shout-out and thank our Operations Committee and Board of Directors, the people who put on this party every year!

We've wrapped up the festival below, by the numbers and by giving a virtual high-five to the winners.

We'll continue to send out monthly news about CDBF, so watch for announcements about our 11th Birthday Gala in the fall, a party you won't want to miss! If you're interested in articpating in next year's festival, we'll announce applications in February for race teams and March for vendors and performers.

Plan now to come and visit us again for next year's festival. It promises to be the most exciting CDBF yet, because we've gone around the Lunar Zodiac one full cycle, and next year we'll celebrate the Year of the Dragon! We'll announce details in the months to come....

Until next time,

Erin Yoshimura
Executive Director

Dragon Boat racesThanks to everyone who helped make the 11th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival such a great success!

Over two days, we had over 100,000 people attend the festival.

We cheered for 51 dragon boat race teams competing in seven divisions, applaudes at over 80 performances on four separate stages, shopped at almost 40 vendors in the Marketplace, dined at 20 vendors at the Taste of Asia food pavilion (including three food trucks); supported 10 Non-Profit Partners who managed our concession stands, and managed to survive near-three digit temperatures.

We welcomed three exciting new features, a Saturday evening Japanese Obon Dance, the Wellness Village and the imaginAsian Mural Collaboration.

We couldn't have done it without the over 300 volunteers who signed up and pitched in, and the 19 sponsors whose funding is so crucial to making the best festival for you to enjoy!

It all added up to one wonderful weekend -- here's to the 12th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival!

Who won the dragon boat races?

Every year, three celebrity judges select the best food from Taste of Asia in our Culinary Contest.

Here are the top winners they voted for:
