NH Arts Learning Network Information and Development Meeting, August 2: The NH Department of Education, NH State Council on the Arts and the Arts Alliance invite arts educators and all those interested in or involved in arts education in our state to a meeting on Thursday, August 2, from 1 to 4 pm at Plymouth State University's Graduate Site (5th floor, 2 Pillsbury Street) in Concord. This is an opportunity to hear about and discuss the New Hampshire Arts Learning Network, a new initiative that emerged as a recommendation of Measuring Up, the NH Arts Education Data Project. It aims to build a stronger network among arts education professionals, parents, colleagues, arts advocates, businesses, and all interested New Hampshire citizens. We're seeking feedback on the most effective and useful ways to make this happen. To learn more, you can visit the website-under-construction at www.nhartslearningnetwork.org. If you would like to attend the meeting, please RSVP to [email protected] by July 30. You are welcome to bring a colleague, arts supporter or interested students (high school to grad school). We will confirm your RSVP and send out an agenda prior to the meeting. If you are interested but cannot attend, please let us know, so we can add your name and contact information to our network email list.

Monday-Friday, July 23-27, 8:30am-4pm - Art Camp
This summer The White Mountain School is offering day camps for students in the local communities for students aged 12 to 15. The first half of the day focuses on performing arts or "3D storytelling." Explore the world of theater by jumping into the art of acting. Campers will explore the tools of the actor including voice, movement, imagination and a willingness to play. Learning to communicate and collaborate within a group enhances life skills that apply to relationships, classes and careers of the future.
The second part of the day introduces students to visual art, where students will learn new ways to create unique work, as well as traditional skills such as drawing, painting and pottery. Using the indoor and outdoor art facilities at The White Mountain School, students will explore a variety of mediums and techniques.
Students will be encouraged to think outside the box in this non-competitive and fun environment, and can choose one part of the day or participate in both. The camp will culminate with an evening Art/Theater opening in The White Mountain School Gallery for campers and their families.
