Creative Economy Blog: In December we'll be launching our Creative Economy blog, which will highlight creative entrepreneurs and businesses around the region and keep you informed about cultural news and events. We'd love to know what you're doing and thinking; the blog will invite you to be part of the creative economy conversation. Know of an interesting local holiday enterprise? A great place to shop for handmade gifts? A new creative business opening in the region? If you have holiday-related or other news you'd like to share, send it to Creative Economy Coordinator Sasha Eisele at sasha@aannh.org.

Block-booking Opportunities for Schools, Organizations: Interested in a program for Black History month or for Music in the Schools month? We'll be coordinating week-long residencies with Rhode Island storyteller Abigail Jefferson in February and Mexican singer and dancer Veronica Robles in March, and would be happy to include your school or community in these block-booking opportunities. Promoting, Supporting and Sustaining
Arts, Culture and Heritage in the North Country

December brings a sleigh full of opportunities to participate in holiday festivities around the region. Check out the many events in your neighborhood in this e-bulletin, everything from outdoor events and craft shows and fairs to concerts and seasonal pageants. Many of our member artists and craftspeople have work for sale in galleries and stores; you can also contact some of them directly. We encourage you to buy local and keep your dollars circulating in the North Country, more important than ever in these uncertain times. Wishing all of you -- members, partners, friends and artists -- the many joys of the season!

Bulletin Instructions: If this e-bulletin comes through for you as one long text message, click on the Arts Alliance website at www.aannh.org for the user-friendly version. Choose "Join our e-list" in the left-hand column. Next, enter your email address. You will receive an email from the Arts Alliance. Click to update your Profile. At the bottom of the Profile page, select HTML format. Save your changes. That should solve the problem and allow you to view the bulletin more easily.

The bulletin, for you and your guests, is arranged by sub-regions from north to south and by date. Please be sure to confirm details and hours prior to attending events or visiting sites. Use our "jump to" function (in the column to the left under the In This Issue section), which allows you to go directly to your geographic areas of interest. Events beyond the dates in this bulletin can be viewed in our Plan-Ahead Arts Calendar and you can also view our complete ArtsNorth calendar for additional details. Links to both calendars are available in the Quick Links section.

Please note that Arts Alliance member organizations are indicated with our member icon. We appreciate our members, and encourage you to attend their events.

If your organization is presenting a cultural event, email details to us as early as possible at events@aannh.org and we'll include it in our online calendar and our email bulletins. You can simply add events@aannh.org to your press list. Please take the time to review your listing, both in the bulletin and the online calendar, and forward corrections to events@aannh.org.

The submission deadline for the next bulletin,
covering December 24-January 13, is December 15.

Farmers overcame enormous challenges to make sheep husbandry succeed, but forces from beyond New Hampshire were to doom the industry, with social consequences that would last a century.
