Saturday August 22, 10am-12noon - Preserving Community Character: Heritage Commissions and Why Every Town Needs One Maggie Stier of the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance will give a presentation informing residents about the benefits of historic preservation and present incentives that will promote awareness and help maintain the historic character of rural New Hampshire towns. The lecture and discussion is sponsored jointly by the Dorchester Selectmen, Dorchester Conservation Commission Dorchester Historical Society and the Friends of Cheever Union Chapel. Residents and officials from area communities are all invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. Archaeological evidence shows their deep presence here, inches below the earth's surface. Robert Goodby of Franklin Pierce University presents this NH Humanities Council program, co-hosted with the Holderness Library, which is free and open to the public.
