Summer 2008 through Spring 2009 Marketing Opportunity: Deadline for inclusion in our Guide to Arts, Culture & Heritage in the White Mountains Summer 2008 - Spring 2009 brochure is June 23. Arts Alliance members are invited to market their organization or business – and to help us promote all of northern New Hampshire as a summer – and increasingly year-round cultural haven for both residents and visitors. We distribute the brochure at rest areas, tourist offices, hospitality sites and cultural and tourist locations throughout the region. Email us at [email protected] for details.

The North Country Chamber Players offer free music tutorials (mid-July through first week of August) to students with 2 or more years of lessons. Music teachers should contact Joyce Petkovich at 444-0309 or email [email protected] to provide names of interested students.

Promoting, Supporting and Sustaining
Arts, Culture and Heritage in the North Country

We're pleased to present our ArtsNorth e-bulletin for you and your guests, arranged by sub-regions from north to south and by date. Please be sure to confirm event details prior to attending. Use our "jump to" function (in the column to the left under the In This Issue section), which allows you to go directly to your geographic areas of interest. You can view our complete ArtsNorth calendar for additional details, and find events beyond the dates in this bulletin in our Plan-Ahead Arts Calendar. Links to both calendars are available in the Quick Links section. Please note that Arts Alliance member organizations are indicated with our member icon. We appreciate our members, and encourage you to attend their events -- and invite you, too, to join us as an individual, artist, family, business, school or institutional member (see http://aannh.org/membership.php for membership information).

If your organization is presenting a cultural event, email details to us as early as possible at [email protected] and we'll include it in the online ArtsNorth calendar and in our email bulletins. You can simply add [email protected] to your press list. Deadline for the next bulletin, covering July 10-23, is July 3.

Over the last few months, Arts Alliance staff and board members have been among the more than 100 people who have been working on developing the Cos Economic Action Plan, which will be outlined at three public listening sessions this month. They're scheduled in Berlin (Tuesday, June 17, 4-6pm in the Berlin City Hall auditorium); Colebrook (Wednesday, June 25, 4-6pm, Colebrook Town Hall); and Lancaster (Thursday, June 26, 4-6pm, Lancaster Town Hall auditorium). One of the recommended action steps we are gathering data for is development of creative-space clusters in our village centers (our Creative Economy coordinator Tom McCorkhill is documenting existing and potential sites, and we're sending out a survey to artists and entrepreneurs to begin to match interests, needs and sites across the county). We encourage community participation and discussion at these sessions - and will post recommended actions on our website. Your comments and ideas are most welcome.

We're happy to partner in presenting the music program at the Grand Opening of the LocalWorks Store & Outdoor Marketplace & WREN Gallery on Friday, June 27 from 5 to 7pm on Bethlehem's Main Street. Come and help WREN and the North Country celebrate! Festivities will include crafts, local refreshments and more. Local music will be provided by The Speakeasy Trio - with Wayne Klingler on sax, Dave Saikin on jazz guitar, and the vocal stylings of Bethlehem's own Jeanne Robillard - playing jazz and swing classics from the '30s and '40s. For more information on the program, call 869-3100.

The Arts Alliance acts as coordinating partner for the conference presenter, the New England Consortium of Artist-Educators (NECAP). Scholarships may be available for North Country artist-educators interested in attending.
