Arts Integration Day-Antioch NE Center for School Renewal: On April 16, from 8:30am to 3pm ($25 registration includes lunch), explore the arts integration toolkit created through the SAIL (Systemic Arts Integration & Learning) project, share integration experiences, projects and lessons. Governors Arts Awards Celebration April 24 at the Colonial Theatre in Keene: The awards are given out every other year to recognize outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in New Hampshire. Events begin at 4pm on Thursday, April 24 with free open houses at a variety of locations throughout Keene; at 7pm, award recipients, including Ken Burns, will be honored at a formal presentation at the Colonial Theatre. The evening program includes poetry, music and dance performances, and short tribute videos. Tickets for the evening program can be purchased through the Colonial Theatre box office and website at www.thecolonial.org.

New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts Annual Business in the Arts Awards Banquet: The banquet will be held Monday, May 12, 6pm reception, 6:45pm dinner & program, at the Radisson Center of New Hampshire, Manchester. Master of Ceremonies is Virginia Prescott, "Word of Mouth" host for NH Public Radio. Call 224-8300 for details. North Country nominees include Loon Mountain and Littleton Coin Company.

Building a Community of Mutual Support - Regional Arts and Healing Convening and Training: A Convening of Artists and Healthcare Professionals takes place April 28-29, and Intensive Artist Training Session April 28-May 2, at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Greenfield, NH. The first two days are designed for providers, healthcare leaders and artists to share 'best practices' and work together to advance the field of healing arts. The final three days focus specifically on artist training and mentoring. Programs include exhibitions, performances and demonstrations featuring artists and the host site's patients and staff. Concert for Young Children & Their Families
6:30pm on Friday, April 18, at Kennett High

Join us for a fun musical evening with musician Deborah Stuart and guest artist Richard Moses. The culminating event in our celebration of the Week of the Young Child will take place Friday, April 18 at 6:30pm in the Kennett High School Auditorium, North Conway. Preschoolers and their brothers, sisters, moms, dads, grammies and grandpas are invited to come, listen and sing together. Children who have worked with Deborah during her residency will be invited onstage to perform. Tickets are $5 per family and are available at the door. The program is presented as part of our "Early Childhood and the Arts" partnership with VSA arts and Child Care Resource & Referral, with support from Story Land. 35th Parallel & Alia Thabit Bring MediterrAsian Music & Middle Eastern Dance to Lisbon April 18
The musicians of 35th Parallel, described by Showcase Magazine as "one of New England's most innovative ensembles," join forces with Arab-American dance artist Alia Thabit to provide an exciting evening of MediterrAsian music and Middle Eastern dance on Friday, April 18 at 7pm at the Lisbon Town Hall. The program is part of our "Experiencing the World" series of multi-cultural family concerts, presented in cooperation with the Lisbon Arts Coordinating Team. Senior Moments' "I Haven't Got Time for the Pain"
Comes to Colebrook & Berlin April 30 & May 1

"I Haven't Got Time for the Pain," a collection of brief plays written for, by and about older adults, is being presented in Colebrook (12noon, Wednesday, April 30 at Colby Commons) and Berlin (12:45pm, Thursday, May 1 at the Berlin Area Senior Center) as part of a statewide tour. The free program is offered through a collaboration between Senior Moments and the New Hampshire Pain Initiative (NHPI), with the Arts Alliance coordinating the North Country visits. Senior Moments is an all-volunteer group dedicated to raising awareness of issues that may affect seniors, delivering its messages through original short skits read at senior centers and other gathering places around the state. The program includes audience discussion with Pain Management Specialist Kelly Doherty. Seniors interested in participating as volunteer readers are invited to contact our Community Arts Corps Coordinator, Karina Mitchell, at 752-7770, email [email protected].

Developing a Marketing Plan & Choosing Software Workshops for Nonprofits Thursday, May 8 in Conway
The Alliance is pleased to partner with the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits as they bring capacity-building workshops to our region. On Thursday, May 8 Susan Low Saadat, Senior Fundraising Consultant for Soft Trac, LLC, will present morning and afternoon workshops at Granite State College in Conway. The Marketing Plan workshop, 9am to 12noon, will help you put together a focused plan by showing you how to define your markets, establish realistic goals, put your plan in motion, and measure your results. Dance in the Rural Setting: A Day-long Gathering

The Arts Alliance and Extending the Dance Map are proud to be working with the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) and its Regional Dance Development Initiative as they present a free day-long exchange exploring "Dance in the Rural Setting." The event, designed to encourage the exchange of ideas in northern New England's dance communities and to focus on encouraging performance opportunities in rural areas, is open to dance artists, educators, arts and cultural presenters, audience and community members, advocates, students, funders and anyone interested in dance. The schedule will include regional artist showings by Lorraine Chapman, Aparna Sindhoor and Selene Colburn; a catered lunch and dinner; facilitated discussions; an open exchange to share resources, voice concerns and discuss upcoming events and issues relevant to the field; and an evening showcase of rural Vermont and New Hampshire dance artists. Northern Forest Heritage Park preserves and interprets the history of the working forest and celebrates the multi-cultural heritage of the Great North Woods Region. Storytelling & Music with Tim Van Egmond: Significant Elders

Folksinger and storyteller Tim Van Egmond will perform for an intergenerational audience. Van Egmond's program, "Young Fogies & Old Whippersnappers," celebrates the wit, wisdom and spirit of seniors and their special connection with youngsters. Van Egmond accompanies his tales, songs, riddles and poems with a variety of traditional instruments, including guitar, hammered dulcimer and limberjack (a wooden puppet that taps out a rhythm on a paddleboard). Afterwards, visitors are invited to the classrooms to read with students. Sponsored in part by Mountain Top Music Center as part of their Storytelling and Music Series, along with a grant from the NE Folk Festival and various Jackson area businesses.

Matt Brown makes color woodblock prints using the traditional Japanese hanga method, printing with brushes and a hand-held baren from hand-carved wood blocks using rice paste, pigments and water. The exhibit also includes drawings, paintings and prints in process.
