More Arts Alliance News

In September, we'll be launching a new interactive "Connections & Opportunities" site where North Country organizations and artists can learn about – and post – jobs, professional development opportunities (workshops, conferences, classes, meetings), grant and funding announcements, exhibit and performance opportunities, "classified" listings related to arts and culture, news briefs, and other items of interest. You can start sending us your postings (for events and opportunities from mid-September on, indicating category, title, date, place, phone number, email or web address, and a brief description) to [email protected].

We're looking for North Country graphic designers interested in cultural projects – please email us at [email protected] or call us at 323-7302 to let us know about you and your work. We're also looking for great arts photos of the region.

As we have for the past several years, we'll be working with North Country Education Services to present a wide variety of arts and culture workshops at the North Country Professional Development Day on Friday, October 5, at White Mountains Regional High School in Whitefield. Many of the artist-educators presenting the workshops will be available to work in schools throughout the coming year. We hope many art, music, theater and classroom educators will attend their workshops and contact us afterwards with ideas and questions.

School & Community Programs for Fall: If you work at a North Country school, or for an after-school program, child-care center or pre-school, senior center or nursing home, or any other organization or agency that might be interested in presenting arts or cultural programs, be sure to contact us so that we can email you our 2007-2008 roster and program guide this fall. The Arts Alliance is happy to work with you to develop customized programming, or to offer you a chance to be part of a block-booking program with other presenters.

Northern NH Visual Arts Map & Guide: We're working to develop a guide to our region's visual artists, galleries and arts businesses. If you are a visual artist or a member of a visual arts group, or if you run a gallery or arts-related business, please let us know about your activities. Email [email protected] with your contact information or to learn more about this project.

Promoting, Supporting and Sustaining
Arts, Culture and Heritage in the North Country

The Arts Alliance is pleased to present our ArtsNorth e-bulletin for you and your guests, arranged by sub-regions from north to south and by date. Please be sure to confirm event details prior to attending. Use our "jump to" function (in the column to the left under the In This Issue section), which allows you to go directly to your geographical areas of interest. You can view our complete ArtsNorth calendar for additional details, and find events beyond the dates in this bulletin in our Plan-Ahead Arts Calendar. Links to both calendars are available in the Quick Links section. Please note that starting in this bulletin Arts Alliance member organizations are indicated with our member icon. We appreciate our members, and encourage you to attend their events - and invite you, too, to join us as an individual, artist, family, business, school or institutional member (see http://aannh.org/membership.php for membership information).

If your organization is presenting a cultural event, email details to us as early as possible at [email protected] and we'll include it in the online ArtsNorth calendar and in our email bulletins. You can simply add [email protected] to your press list. Our e-bulletins cover three weeks at a time during the fall and winter. Submission deadline for the next bulletin, covering September 20 through October 11, is September 13.

Two Job Opportunities at the Arts Alliance: We're sad to report that Cynthia Robinson will be leaving us, but glad that she is doing so to pursue her career as a teaching artist. We wish her the very best and look forward to working with her in schools and communities throughout the region in the years to come. We now have two employment opportunities to announce: a new position, Assistant Director of the Arts Alliance, and a one-year contract position for a North Country Cultural Tourism/Creative Economy Coordinator, funded by a grant from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund, an advised fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The Assistant Director will work with the Executive Director to develop, coordinate, manage and evaluate Arts Alliance systems and activities, including events, member services, cultural programs and special projects. The Cultural Tourism/Creative Economy Coordinator will develop and manage a network for collaborative cultural tourism and economic development efforts in the North Country. Please check our website - or email us at [email protected] - for detailed job descriptions and application information, and please spread the word to anyone who may be interested.
