AANNH Notes

AANNH & Head Start Partner on Workshop: We had a great day Monday, December 11, working with more than 40 Tri-County CAP's Head Start staff at an all-day workshop in Littleton on "Easing Transitions through the Arts." Participants enjoyed learning how to use bookmaking, puppetry and song writing to help children through transitions large and small. Let us know if you have professional development needs you'd like to address through the arts.

Heritage Holiday Gift Idea: Looking for a mailable holiday present? AANNH now has beautiful 18" X 24" posters of the Northern New Hampshire Heritage Map for sale. The poster has an antique look and includes wonderful vintage images and historical information. Posters cost $10 each for non-members; $9 for AANNH members. Shipping/handling for non-members is $5; free shipping/handling for AANNH members. Call or email us for more info.

Attention Artists and Arts-Related Businesses: Do you operate or know of for-profit or nonprofit businesses, organizations and individuals in your area that are connected to the arts and culture (including handcraft stores, graphic design companies, art and music supply shops, recording studios and independent artists)? We want to know! AANNH believes that arts businesses big and small make a real impact on the overall economy in our region. We are working on creating a comprehensive listing of these "creative economy" businesses, and collaborating with North Country Council on a baseline economic impact study. Please email or call us with your info!

Plymouth Writing Project is holding a one-day conference on January 12, 2007 for teachers and others interested in learning more about PWP. Registration deadline is January 8. Information and registration forms are available on their website: www.plymouth.edu/pwp

Help wanted! Serve the North Country and Gain Experience through the Arts Alliance & AMERICORPS*VISTA
Central to AANNH's mission is the idea of collaboration and volunteerism. In 2007 we will be focusing on a formal expansion of our volunteer base, making it possible to involve youth and adult community members in supporting and presenting our many programs, services and events. In order to accomplish this goal, AANNH is looking to fill two VISTA positions: Youth Arts Corps Coordinator and Community Arts Corps Coordinator.

The Youth Arts Corps Coordinator will work with AANNH staff to develop our new youth volunteer program. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in gaining firsthand experience and training in arts administration, youth work and volunteer programs. There will be many professional development and networking opportunities.

The Community Arts Corps Coordinator will help AANNH develop, recruit, implement and evaluate our expanding volunteer program. Come work with our staff and partners and our VISTA Youth Arts Corps Coordinator to create projects that will engage community members in their own communities, and in their areas of arts/culture interest.

Both positions will involve matching volunteers with AANNH service descriptions, events and programs; training volunteers; creating a schedule of volunteer activities; and supervising a volunteer team. You'll help AANNH evaluate the Volunteer process, using input from all partners and participants. For more information, and/or to apply, email info@aannh.org
