The school year is flying by so quickly it is hard to believe spring break is around the corner. I would like to commend our students, teachers PTA, and parents on their hard work and dedication to Shadow Ridge Middle School. TAKS testing has begun and it is imperative that we all work together to get the best out of our students. Parents, you can help by getting your children a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast on test days. Testing is stressful for some students, therefore the more positive reinforcement they receive, the more confident they will be when testing. Please encourage your child to do their best, as we will be doing everything we can to encourage them at school. Thank you all for your support to Shadow Ridge Middle School.

Last Call to Pre Order Your Yearbook!

We will be taking orders for yearbooks until March 10 (Open House).

Yearbooks are $40 and checks should be made payable to SRMS. Order envelopes are available in the main office at Shadow Ridge and we will have a table set up for pre-orders at Open House on March 10.

Anyone who has not pre-ordered a yearbook will have an opportunity to purchase any remaining books when we distribute the pre-ordered yearbooks the last week of school.

We will not be taking any yearbook orders between March 10 and the day that yearbooks are distributed the last week of school.

If you are not sure if you have ordered a yearbook or have any other questions, send Ms. McGinnes an email.

Library Research

Bookmark Links

Students may not be aware of this, but they can access the Lewisville ISD Bookmarks for research at home just like they do on the school computers.

Go to the SRMS website: SRMS. Click on the Library Research bookmark links icon (apple sitting on a book). Use the password the students are provided at school or contact the school librarian if you do not have it. For licensing purposed we cannot share the password in an email. More information will be available on this in the library on Open House night, March 10th.

One particular application of interest to families at home is the NetTrekker search engine. This can be found half way down the page of the list of links. Educators are constantly monitoring and filtering content to ensure a search finds only educational related materials.

SRMS PTA Communtiy Service

The SRMS PTA along with the NJHS and Student Council have been helping others in our community. We have purchased new undergarments, shoes, socks, and sweatshirts for 3 local elementary schools. We have also purchased some school binders for a local middle school.

Look for our upcoming paper goods drive in April.

Cyber Safety Courses

We would like to have information available year round so that parents, students and school community are receiving current information on a regular basis about cyber safety.
