The Fifth Trumpet
The Locust Vision of Revelation 9
And the shapes of the locusts were
like unto
horses prepared unto battle; and on their
heads
were as it were crowns like gold, and
their faces
were as the faces of men. And they had hair
as the
hair of women, and their teeth were as
the
teeth of
lions.
And they had breastplates, as it were
breastplates of
iron; and the sound of their wings was
as the
sound
of chariots of many horses running to battle.
And they had tails like unto
scorpions, and
there
were stings in their tails: and their power
was to
hurt men five months. Rev. 9: 7-10
The fifth trumpet of Revelation chapter 9 is
one of the
easiest symbols in the Apocalypse to understand.
From the dawn of the reformation until this
day, all
historicist expositors have understood that
the locust signifies the Saracens or Arabs. (See
Trumpets Chart below.)
The Locust - Every Jot and Tittle is Significant
Signifies the Descendants of Ishmael - the Arabs
"They came as grasshoppers [or
locusts] for
multitude." Judges 6:5
The Midianites lay along in the valley like
grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels
were
without number, as the sand by the sea
side for
multitude. Judges 7:12
The locust is a national emblem for Ishmael from
whom the Arabs are descended. God told Abraham
that Ishmael
would "multiply exceedingly" (Gen 17:20).
The root word for locust in
Hebrew (rabah) actually means to multiply
exceedingly!
The Hebrew word for locust is arbeh.
Their
word for Arab is arbi. To the Hebrew ear
locust sounds like Arab!
The locust is a miniature hieroglyphic whose
every
jot and tittle points to the Arabs. Read the
details
in the "locust insights" link below.
Five Months = 150 Days (5 * 30 = 150)
A Day in Prophecy is a Year
The fifth
trumpet was fulfilled in the era which began
when their prophet created a new nation and a new
religion. This was the Arab's golden
years
of victory, expansion and prosperity. After
the Arabs
came the Turks (the 6th trumpet).
"The Arabs had languished in poverty and
contempt,
till Mahomet breathed into those savage
hordes the
soul of enthusiasm."
Edward Gibbon. Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire
"Onward and still onward like swarms from the
hive,
or flights of locusts darkening the land,
tribe after tribe
issued forth and hastening northward spread
in great
masses to the east and to the west." Sir William
Muir. The Caliphate p. 144.
Their period of conquest extended from
612 until 762 A.D. . . . exactly 150
years.
The desert locust is active five
months of the
year and dormant seven. The Arab armies were
active during the same five months each year.
Their
golden age of expansion was "five months".
Locust Migrations
Evidence of Design
The east wind brought the locusts." Ex 10:13
In Exodus, the plague of locusts came on an East
wind and returned on a West wind (v 19). Arabia is
East
of Egypt.
"Swarms of locusts often arise in Arabia and
from
thence infest the neighboring nations: and so
are a
very fit type of the numerous armies of Arabians
invading the Romans." from Isaac Newton's
Observations
In their 150 year golden age, the Arab armies
expanded in a territory almost identical to the
migratory range of the desert locust. See the
Locust Maps link below.
