Greetings!
Young costume parade winner

The calendar says it's spring.  I'm not sure the weather is cooperating.  I'm hoping it will change real soon.

Now is the time to apply Ferti-lome Pro Green fertilizer and soil activator. You can take advantage of the snow to water in your fertilizer.  With all this moisture,
your lawn will be beautiful in no time.
We are witnessing a huge outbreak of "Spring Fever".  Take a walk through the greenhouses and get a little spring fever relief.  Take in the sights of blooming flowers and the smells of the fresh moist soil.

We are receiving new shipments of hardy spring vegetables and perennials.  The pansies are blooming and hardy for planting now. You can visit us often and check the progress of our locally grown plants.

Be sure to visit the floral shop for a new spring arrangement to brighten your home and all your fresh floral needs. A great cure for spring fever is fresh flowers. Stop by the floral shop and pick some up. We have great cut tulips, daffodils, iris and gerbera daisies just to mention a few.

Don't forget to stop by Pinehurst on Friday and reward yourself with 1/2 price "Friday Flowers".

Think Spring,

Things to do . .

April. . .

Apply dormant oil spray to fruit trees, snowball bushes and shrubs.

Plant cabbage, broccoli, and root crops.

Mow your lawn short and apply Fert-i-lome Pro Green for the start of a gorgeous lawn..

Apply Natural Guard Soil Activator (humates) to your lawn, garden, flower and shrub beds to feed the soil and decompose the dead grass.

Dump old soil from your planters into your garden or flower beds and work in.

Cut back perennial flowers and grasses to the ground before new growth starts.

Apply pre-emergent weed control to landscape and flower beds before weeds start to grow to save hours of weeding.

Take your que from nature on pruning roses.  When the beautiful yellow forsythia bushes are blooming is the best time to prune rose bushes.

Why does your lawn look so bad?

Snow MoldIt may be snow mold.

Most everyone is seeing a lot of this right now. Snow mold is a late-winter disease that causes patches of grass to keel over and gray out in patches. One version has a pinkish tint to it. It usually happens when there's a late-melting snow cover.  It may be more prevalent on the north slopes of your yard, where the snow stayed the longest.

The best solution is just to rake off the dead matted stuff and wait for warmer days. Removing the mat and fluffing up what's left will help it dry out faster.  Mow your lawn short.

Once the grass starts growing, it'll green up and recover just fine without any treatment of chemical fungicide.  Applying Natural Guard Soil Activator (humates) will help.
