How will this sudden change in the weather affect my landscape?

We have had such a nice, long, warm fall, but many plants did not have a chance to go dormant. With the weather forecasted to be sub-zero temperatures in the next few days, this can cause a real problem. That is what happened last fall and we saw a lot of winter damage and trees and shrubs dying. What is different this year than last is the powerful snow storm we are experiencing before the temperatures are to drop. Snow acts as insulation to plants. I think it and all the moisture we have had will protect the plants. Last year the temperatures dropped earlier in October and we did'nt have any moisture or snow protection.
