Leading with Vision | February, 2009

A Letter from Ron Magnus, Managing Director

Many of us recently watched one of the most popular team sporting events in the world - the Super Bowl. This event brings together the two teams who emerge from an intensely competitive environment through a combination of world-class talent, relentless focus on a common goal and the support of countless executives, coaches and trainers.

While business leaders perform under dimmer lights and in front of smaller crowds, we face a similar challenge of building and guiding teams at work. Great leaders are able to unite groups of individuals from different backgrounds with diverse skill sets around a shared vision to achieve more than they could as individuals. Most important to any great team however, is a solid foundation of trust. This issue of the Leadership e-News examines teams as an essential building block of great organizations and offers insights on creating high-performing teams.
