Effective Team Leadership | January, 2009

A Letter from Ron Magnus, Managing Director

Self-awareness is foundational for leaders to succeed. FMI's Leadership Institute has enjoyed remarkable success over the past 13 years focusing on this truth. For years, people have asked what is the next step after completing the Leadership Institute. After years of research and development, FMI is launching the Leadership Institute II. It will be held April 5-9, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO at Cheyenne Mountain resort. The Leadership Institute II builds on your self-awareness providing specific tools and approaches for getting better results as a leader.

In their book Primal Leadership , Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis declare that 80-90% of what differentiates exceptional leaders is attributed to emotional intelligence (developing the skills to positively influence people and create trusting relationships). This is also consistent with FMI's research. That's why we've built the Leadership Institute II around building and practicing these skills. By attending the Leadership Institute II, leaders will:

  • Increase profitability
  • Decrease turnover
  • Reduce conflict
  • Improve customer relationships
  • Create greater efficiencies
  • Increase repeat business

Through developing skills in:
  • Effectively influencing people
  • Building positive trusting relationships
  • Effectively managing change
  • Increasing productivity of their team

We want to make sure that you leave with improved skills, so participants will have an executive coach that meets with them throughout the program to establish and work on individual learning objectives. I hope you will join us in Colorado this April for what promises to be a memorable event. For more information and to register for the Leadership Institute II, please visit our website.

Build a Winning Team

Jeff Schulz

Retaining key employees. Reducing waste. Controlling scope creep. These are some of the major problems affecting nearly every company within the construction industry. Tremendous amounts of time and money are wasted on these issues. Yet, one possible, all-encompassing solution exists within your company: teamwork.
