The Ann Arbor Art Fairs Have Started!
The Ann Arbor Art Fairs are in full swing. The weather is great (we had a short rain this afternoon) and the forecast is for fare skies for the rest of the week. When you visit the fairs don't for get to stop by Ashley's. Come inside or sit down in our outside cafe and watch the people go by. See below for "No, I didn't want to see that" competition.
Working with many of our Ann Arbor neighbors we have put together the 1st Annual Ann Arbor Beer Week, July 20-23. We have added something new to our Monday event. (read below to find out) Throughout the week there will be events at Ashley's, Arbor Brewing, Bar Louie and The Arena. Look for a bunch of new beer releases, special kegs, discounts and fun. It all leads up to the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti on July 24-25. See below for details of events at Ashley's.
Our next beer class is Tuesday, August 11th. and will be really special as we explore the Trappist and Abby ales of Belgium (tickets will be available on July 16th). You may buy your tickets on line at ashleys.com
Many of our fans are getting the latest word on new beers on tap by following our Twitter feeds, are you? We have set one up for each Ashley's (a2ashleys and Ashleys). Ann Arbor Art Fairs
 July 15-18th

"No, I Didn't Want To See That" Competition
People watching is a favorite pastime of fair goers. I am looking for the best picture of something that should not be seen. Just email the picture to me (jeff@ashleys.com) with date, time and where in the Art Fair the picture was taken. I will choose the winner who will receive a $25 gift card. My son has already sent me this one:
Bologna Man 7/15/09
The Ann Arbor Art Fair is really 4 different fairs all going on at the same time. Ashley's is in the center of it all as a member of the State Street Area Association (a neighborhood association). State Street has been putting on their own fair longer than anyone in Ann Arbor. Our fair is a jurried fair with some of the best quality artist to be found at any fair in the country. The State Street Fair is the highest rated of all of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.
The State Street fair not only has art but some of the best sales by area merchants (mostly on State and Liberty streets). Van Boven's (on State in the Nickels Arcade) has unique men's clothing and this is one of only two sales they have all year. Bivouac (next door to Ashley's) has great sales on outdoor wear, boots & shoes, camping equipment and much more! (check out their ladies store as well). For trendy shoppers their visit American Apparel, Allure and Posh on Liberty. Plus too many more to mention!
The other fairs are: The Street Art Fair (N. University and Ingalls Mall), The South University Fair (S. University between Church and E. University) and the Michigan Arts and Craft Guild (Main St. & State Street from S. University to William)

Here is a parking tip for the Art Fair, the Maynard Parking structure (enter off Thompson from William) is only $5 after 4pm and has plenty of availability. It is also close to Ashley's. Buy your tickets early for the Trappist Ale tasting with Rex in Westland as it is likely to sell out. Start making your plans for the A2BeerWeek and buy tickets for the Brewers Guild beer festival before they sell out (like they always do)
Sincerely,
Jeff More
