Its been a while since our last newsletter so I have some very special news to let our friends in on.

I want to tell you about two great Stone Brewing events come up. First, on Saturday (4/25) we the release of Stone Levitation Ale will occur in Ann Arbor. Read below to see who the special guests are. The second Stone event is a charity beer tasting for the JCS of Ann Arbor. This will be a fun event for a good cause.

Don't worry Westland friends we have scheduled a very special event for you too. On Tuesday May 5th Rex Halfpenny (publisher of the Michigan Beer Guide) will be holding a class & tasting titled "The Essential Introduction to Beer". This is the first in a series of beer classes we are scheduling for Westland.

Stone Levitation Ale Release

Join the head brewers of Stone, Mitch & Steve, for the release of Levitation Ale in Michigan at 5pm on Saturday April 25 in Ann Arbor.

Mitch & Steve are stopping by on their way back from the Craft Brewers Conference in Boston. Before they head home they are going to team up again with Ron Jeffries of Jolly Pumpkin in Dexter to brew something special.

If you have never heard Rex talk about beer then you have missed something. Those that have met Rex before know his passion and knowledge of beer is something to behold.

Come explore the award winning beers of Stone Brewing of Escondido California. Stone Brewery was founded in 1996 with the pledge to "always brew nothing but the highest quality, uncompromising beers imaginable."

Our guest speaker for the evening will be Aaron Tyrell, Mid-west regional brewery representative of Stone. Aaron will lead guests through an exploration of beer styles from the Stone portfolio including Smoked Porter, Arrogant Bastard, Levitation Ale, Ruination Ale and Old Guardian.

The tasting will be accompanied by foods and sauces crafted with Stone beer. As a special bonus for this tasting Stone will be sampling some of the last available Stone Holiday Collaboration Ale. This ale was crafted by Greg Koch of Stone Brewery (Escondidio CA), Ron Jeffries of Jolly Pumpkin (Dexter, MI) and Kjetil Jikiun of brewery Nųgne-Ų (Norway). The Holiday Ale is a full bodied, spiced ale with 25% rye malt. Only one double batch was made and only distributed to a handful of states so this is rare treat.

Lager for Lag B'omer is a Fundraiser for the Jewish Cultural Society (JCS) of Ann Arbor. The JCS is a secular humanistic community supporting the heritage of Jewish culture.
Proceeds from this benefit support the programs and school of the JCS.

I am off to visit the Stone Brewery in Escondido California so I will miss the party this weekend but I will post some pictures after my trip.
