Upcoming Events at Ashley's!
Greetings!
We have lots of events coming up to break up those winter blues.
This Friday we will a firkin of Arcadia IPA on the bar in Westland for another Firkin Friday. Next week in Ann Arbor we have a very special firkin coming, Bell's Hops Slam. Bell's created a cask version of the popular seasonal brew at our request, what a way to kick off Ann Arbor's first Firkin Friday of the new year.
If you are looking for a great place to watch the playoffs and the Big Game (you know, the one that is just Super) visit Ashley's in Westland. With their new 10' Big Screen TV and 15 other LCD Tv's you won't miss any of the action. We welcome both Pittsburgh and Arizona fans. We can only dream that some day the Lions will make it, though we probably have to wait until it gets a lot colder.
We have scheduled another brewery event for Westland with Avery Brewing of Boulder Colorado coming to town on Feb. 4th. Scheduled to appear: Avery IPA, The Reverend, Old Jubilation and a few more.
We will show the UFC 94 event at Westland this Saturday. This is a big rematch of St. Pierre vs. Penn. The card starts at 10pm but get there early for the best seats.
We are building the whisky collection at our Westland location (you don't get to 60+ overnight). It will take me a while not only to accumulate the wide variety of whiskies but to train the staff about them. We will be adding about one new item each week. This week we have add Auchentoshan Three-wood. Read below for more information.

Firkin Friday in Westland!
Join
us at 5pm on Friday January 30 firkin of Arcadia IPA.
For Arcadia IPA Columbus dry-hops are added directly to the open fermenter to uniquely characterize their IPA with
an intensely robust pure-like floral aroma and resinous hop flavor. A pronounced hop bitterness
is balanced by a medium-bodied, lightly caramel and toasted malt character with a nutty finish. 5.9 ABV, 41 IBU
Cask
conditioned ale (real ale) is brewed with only traditional ingredients
and allowed to mature naturally. The unfiltered, unpasteurized beer
still contains live yeast, which undergoes a secondary fermentation in
the firkin (keg). This creates a gentle natural CO2 carbonation and
allows malt and hop flavors to develop, for a richer tasting drink with
more character than regular keg beer.
Firkin ale is served
without extraneous gas by a spigot tapped directly into the keg. Only
in the past few decades did filtered, pasteurized, chilled beer pushed
up beer lines by gas pressure become normal.

Auchentoshan Distillery
Auchentoshan means "Corner of the field". The distillery was founded in 1823 on Auchentoshan Estate, at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills overlooking the River Clyde (that flow out to sea through Glasgow) by John Bulloch, a local corn merchant.
Auchentoshan is a Lowland distillery but produces whiskies great complexity. Unlike most Scotch distilleries, Auchentoshan uses a triple distillation method. The Three Wood is then matured in American bourbon oak cask. The whisky is then finished in Spanish oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. The result is a Lowland single malt whisky rich with dark fruits, thick butterscotch, roasted hazelnuts and the signature smooth, delicate Auchentoshan taste.
The 12 and 18 year old versions have an elegant smoothness for easy enjoyment at any time. The profound complexity of the Three Wood is for savoring after a meal or for times of relaxation and reflection.
Auchentoshan Three Wood is available at both Ashley's locations.
