Firkin Friday in Westland!
Join
us at 5pm on Friday, October 3rd when we tap a firkin of Bell's Two
Hearted Ale.
Cask
conditioned ale (real ale) is brewed with only traditional ingredients
and allowed to mature naturally. The unfiltered, unpasteurized beer
still contains live yeast, which undergoes a secondary fermentation in
the firkin (keg). This creates a gentle natural CO2 carbonation and
allows malt and hop flavors to develop, for a richer tasting drink with
more character than regular keg beer.
Firkin ale is served
without extraneous gas by a spigot tapped directly into the keg. Only
in the past few decades did filtered, pasteurized, chilled beer pushed
up beer lines by gas pressure become normal.
Bell's Two Hearted Ale is an India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper
Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a
crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Bell's HopSlam now on Tap!
If you like big hoppy beers don't miss the opportunity to get some of Bell's HopSlam ale.
What is it like? It is a biting, bitter, tongue bruiser of an ale. With a name like Hopslam, what did you expect?
But unlike many brewers that try big hopped beers Bell's HopSlam has a nice balance to it. Not only is there a wonderful hop aroma but the malt still comes through on the palate before the big biting hop finish.
Exactly which types of hops are used in HopSlam is a secret Bell's does include Centennial hops which is like the very popular Cascade but with twice the alpha acids (the stuff that adds the bitterness). In fact Bell's is one of the bigger users of Centennial hops and a lot goes into HopSlam. Try a pint today as the season is short (now until mid February)
