HOW TO SCORE $$$

IMPROMPTU SUPER BOWL FUNDRAISER SCORES TOUCHDOWN

by Max McQueen, Exec. Dir.

Lura Turner Homes, Inc.

"You couldn't pay me to watch the Super Bowl!"

With that flippant remark an impromptu fundraiser was launched for Lura Turner Homes for Developmentally Disabled Adults.

"How much would it cost to make you watch the game?" was the response from my out-of-town friend who wanted to watch the big game.

I blurted out, "Ten dollars a minute."  Before I knew it, donations were rolling in to "pay" me to watch my first ever Super Bowl.

More than $5,000 came in, which allowed us to finally get a much-needed new van.  We also got more publicity from this than anything we've done since our founding in 1965.

We were still getting inquiries, comments and donations from this fundraiser more than a MONTH later!

So much favorable attention has come our agency's way that I wanted to share some tips that we used that made it such a success.

April 2012
jacobyGreetings Friends

Welcome to AAPPD's first monthly electronic newsletter, which has been created as part of the efforts to enhance our communications with the many audiences with whom we reach across the state of Arizona.

As many of you are aware, we unveiled our new website at the beginning of 2012. We also engage in social media through our Twitter and Facebook accounts.  Of course, we still use our phones, e-mail, and even the U.S. mail system.

In order to be successful in our endeavors to address the future of long term care issues, we need to continue our dialogue with all of you.  So whatever is your communication preference, I invite you to share your ideas, concerns, and stories.
