THE 6th EDITION QUESTION
NOVA Open Position:
 The NOVA decision at this time is to go forward with 5th Edition "unless GW releases a 6th Edition prior to June." Our staff has been studying the question and we find the 6th edition release date (purported to be mid-summer) is based entirely on internet rumors, and a leaked PDF of limited authenticity. The reasons behind the NOVA Open decision take into consideration many inherent problems that gamers will face with a release so near the convention itself. For example, our judges must be well-versed on the rules and, though they would double down in preparation, we believe gamer challenges would become overwhelming amid a 256-player, 4-day tournament. More importantly, we are concerned that few players have the wherewithal to replace or recalibrate entire armies (and then paint new models to matching standards) in such a short time frame. If a 6th Edition is released before June, the staff will once again come together, review the work, and make a final decision. TERRAIN BUILD REPORT

 There were three build events in January, and the most important thing that happened was the addition of ten new members to the NOVA's volunteer staff. Each Saturday event had between 12 and 21 people working and playing hard toward a very successful month!

FLAMES OF WAR
Flames are Being Fanned!
The work on Flames of War terrain has begun! The plan is to present a mix of field boards, winter boards, and desert boards (No, the snow boards will not just be entirely difficult going!) Expect to see fairly well covered boards containing everything from impassable rocks, rivers and ponds, boccage (thanks Luke!), to a wide assortment of buildings. Each player's packet . . . 40K NARRATIVE
Narrative Event - 40k Nitty Gritty
The Narrative Event covers four (4) rounds of casual-pace gaming, where the system is designed to pit you against your peers (especially as it relates to the style of army list you run). It is also designed to allow you to take one (1) round OFF - on the chance you'd like more time for relaxation, enjoying the other activities within the Convention, or touring surrounding DC and Northern Virginia region.
The Narrative Event does NOT conflict with the Warhammer 40k GT or Invitational!
If you are looking for additional games against peers with army lists of similar flavor and strength along casual time-frames in the evenings and Sunday afternoon, the Narrative is the event for you. (Need to Know More?)

Looking for Terrain Artisans! The NOVA is facing a tall task in its mission to build 23 Washington, D.C. scale Centerpieces for the Narrative gaming tables. If you would like to try your hand at this type of artistic endeavor, please contact us at novaopen@gmail.com. All Monument Build Designers are invited on a Washington, D.C. Photo Safari. This kick-off adventure will allow everyone to explore not only the City, but the NOVA vision for its first Narrative roll-out.
