Mid-March, 2012
Hi!
I am joining you mid month! I have decided to start sending out my newsletter 2x month. So many exciting things are going on with me, Elisabeth Crim, PhD, and with Moonstone Center, the network I founded that both provides psychodynamic mind-body-spirit mental health treatment as well as relevant continuing education experiences in the context of self-care for the attendee. You must consider coming, getting away to the beauty of Hermosa Beach and learning some very exciting and cutting edge approaches in mental health treatment.
Registration is open for our May 18, 2012, 6 Hour Boutique CE Event, The Power of Collaborative Treatment Teaming: Bridging Complementary-Alternative Therapies With Traditional Mental Health Treatment! One of the exciting things about this event is that you will have the opportunity to hear from the Members of Moonstone Center's Treatment Team Network. You get to hear directly from Simone Marke't, Certified Yoga Therapist and Kathleen Lowry, Licensed Acupuncturist and hear how they are applying and integrating their treatment with my intervention of psychodynamic mind-body psychotherapy. You also get to hear from JoAnn Fitzpatrick, MFT, an amazing presenter many of you have heard speak at other CE Events locally, statewide, and nationally. She will be addressing the Moonstone Center Team approach to treating adolescents and their families.
I had the opportunity to speak at the Los Angeles County Psychological Association's (LACPA) Brown Bag Lunch meeting on Monday, March 12. How fulfilling to speak to a group of fellow psychologists in the LA area. They had a room filled to capacity and had a waiting list for my presentation. This of course excited me as I am eager to share my and Moonstone Center's message and to challenge us in the field of mental health to look at the individuals, couples, and families we are treating as whole beings. Attending to persons mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and relationally is my passion and a key aspect of the mission of Moonstone Center. I am equally impassioned in my efforts with each patient I have the opportunity to evaluate and treat, in helping them identify and understand the symptoms with which they present in the larger context of their whole being, relational life and existence in the larger community and world.
I am aware that I and Moonstone Center continue to expand our reach through the newsletter, The Healer's Life, locally, and throughout the state, nation, and internationally. I recently received feedback from a Yoga Therapist in Japan that she was utilizing the approach of the Power of Collaborative Treatment Teaming with the psychologists and other mental health professionals treating the survivors of Japan's 2011 Tsunami. She had attended the presentation co-lead by Simone Marke't and me at the International Association of Yoga Therapists' (IAYT) Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research in Monterey, CA in September 2011. How exciting to hear that Moonstone Center's model of Collaborative Treatment Teaming Between Complementary-Alternative Therapies and Traditional Mental Health Treatment (Psychotherapy and Psychiatry) is touching the lives of the amazing people of Japan in their ongoing recovery from that horrific national disaster. I get chills when I think of her being emboldened to take yoga therapy to the mental health professionals in seeking to partner for the whole healing and recovery of the victims and survivors.
Please continue to forward our newsletter to friends and colleagues, fellow Healers, in the fields of psychology, marriage and family therapy, psychiatry, social work, yoga therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, tai chi, nutrition, western medicine and beyond. Our integrative and partnering approach is something we believe in and want to share, both for you as the Healer and for those amazing people for whom you provide your thoughtful care and healing craft. Bridging the various Eastern and Western disciplines of health and healing not only expands and better completes the whole treatment of our patients/clients, but it also helps shore up each of us as providers, expanding our effect and lightening the load that we as Healers can tend to carry when offering healing.
I am in the process of forming a Consultation Group, Dancing the Transference! for licensed mental health professionals, attending to the transference, somatic and general, and attending to the body's process in psychotherapy. Please consider joining me and others in the group. It will be a time of support and personal growth while deepening your understanding and treatment of your patients/clients. Individual consultation with me is also available, in my office, by phone, or by skype. See the Sidebar under Featured Articles to read articles I have written on the process that I will be addressing in the group or individually. And, check out the link on the side for more information or simply reply to this e-newsletter for more info and to let me know you are interested!
Please reply to The Healer's Life e-newsletter with any questions, comments, requests for topics to be covered, events to be produced, etc. I will read each comment, consider it and attempt to respond.
Please forward to any and all who you think would enjoy or benefit from receiving The Healer's Life!
And, fyi: I am in the process of revamping the website, and exploring the expansion of Elisabeth Crim, PhD's and Moonstone Center's social media presence and networking in efforts to make getting support, encouragement, and the latest in mind-body-spirit, holistic and integrative care to you, the amazing Healers of our wonderful fellow human beings in this ever-evolving world in which we live, move and have our being!

Highlited Article:
The Highlited Article is an interview with Dr. Wayne Dyer, internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. He is both psychological and spiritual in his approach. I find inspiration and challenge for my higher God-focused self when I read his work or hear him speak. Please enjoy the interview on the link on the sidebar by Ray and Loree Hemachandra for Pure Inspiration. It is entitled, "You Are God: An In-Depth Conversation with Dr. Wayne Dyer." The title is potentially a bit provocative, but stay with it and let it challenge your mind and spirit. As with all articles and links to other sources than my own that I share, it is to invite you to read, explore, consider, and potentially wrestle with, incorporate/own or even reject.
Self-Care Resources:
Check out the link for your local Farmer's Market! This link will allow you to enter your zip code and find a Farmer's Market that is close to you. We know that the food we eat directly affects our energy, mind, body, and spirit as much as our exercise, relational life and personal psychology and self-talk. So go explore some healthy foods grown locally! And maybe meet some other like-minded folks! Yum and Yay!
