CMA MEMBERSHIP FORUM AND CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS

CMA members are cordially invited to attend a membership forum on Wednesday, Sept. 19th and participate in interviews with candidates seeking election to the Colorado General Assembly in the elections to be held November 6.

Colorado - one of several swing states - could decide the outcome of the Presidential election.    As the old saying goes, however, "all  politics is local" and the state elections will determine which political party controls the houses of the General Assembly, and will likely shape the state's policy and laws regulating mining and natural resources for years to come.

A spreadsheet with the current schedule for candidate interviews is available here.    The interviews will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by late afternoon.    During lunch, CMA President Stuart Sanderson and Lobbyist Dianna Orf will discuss key races.  Sandwiches and chips will be served.

SEATING IS LIMITED! Please RSVP by Monday, September 17th. Contact Annette Sibert at asibert@coloradomining.org or 303-575-9199 to RSVP.

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION RECAP

Stuart at RNC
Pictured above: Stuart Sanderson, CMA President, with Jim Shea, 2002 Olympic Gold Medalist who earlier addressed the convention

For the first time ever, CMA attended the Republican National Convention in Tampa and addressed a meeting attended by members of the Colorado delegation and other notables.   The event gave CMA the opportunity to brief members of the delegation on the importance of mining to Colorado and the need to secure our nation's energy independence.

The meeting drew more than 150 attendees, and many prominent political figures also addressed the event, including former Governor Tim Pawlenty, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, and many others.
