at the Library.

April 2011

Each year we must raise over $900,000, in addition to the third of our operating income provided by the Gold Mine (below, left to right: Library founding members Anita Gray, Jeanne Lane, and Clara Spiegel).

Besides Our Moveable Feast, the main event at the Library last month was the Farewell Bash for Jan Mason, director of the Gold Mine for 17 years (she worked at the Gold Mine for a total of 22 years, after serving on the Board of Directors for several years as well).  If you missed the fabulous party, you might want to view the photo album of the festivities.

April is National Poetry Month! Collection Development Manager Cathy Butterfield tells me that the poetry section of our collection enjoys quite a bit of use. You can search our online catalog for your favorite poet or poem. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, please let us know.

My favorite April way to learn about new poetry is to sign up for the Borzoi Reader's Poem A Day. The following 40-second promo is quite fun to watch, even if you decide not to sign up.

April is Poetry Month

On the 13th of April we will be screening Rick Woodward's documentary on former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins. Details about the event.  You can find out about our other programs, or explore other aspects of the Library by following the links on the left side of this page.

To close, I invite you to watch author John Grisham talk about the value of libraries. (Thanks to Deputy Director Kerry B. Funkhouser for sending me the link.)

Sincerely,

Colleen Daly
