Ozark Race for the Cure Recap
The 2012 Komen Ozark Race for the Cure has come and gone and what a great day it was!  The Survivor Parade, sponsored by MANA and The Breast Center, kicked off the day's events.  The Fayetteville High School Color Guard marched alongside the Survivors as they made their way to the main stage to be recognized and have their group photo taken.  This was a great way for MANA to be represented at RFTC as several of the ladies were diagnosed at The Breast Center.

After the Survivor Parade, the races started and sponsor tables opened up for business.  The Breast Center and Northwest Arkansas Pediatric Clinic both had booths set up, handing out zebra-striped first aid kits and photo magnets.  Staff at both locations also stayed busy by talking to participants about all the services MANA has to offer and handing out clinic information.  After the Survivor Run, The Breast Center was on hand to greet the ladies with pink carnations - what  a great finish line!

We would like to thank everyone who joined the MANA Team and stopped by our tables! We're excited to start the planning process for 2013!

Now Scheduling Sports and Camp Physicals, Wellness Exams
KidsAre your children heading off to camp this summer?  Maybe they've joined a team sport?  If so, you don't want them to be left out by not being prepared and having their annual physical exams complete.  Summer is a good time to schedule a yearly wellness exam or check up for your child. The physicians at FirstCare Family Doctors and Northwest Arkansas Pediatric Clinic can perform the necessary exams to get your children off on the right foot for summer fun!

FirstCare Family Doctors has seven locations throughout Northwest Arkansas, including three locations in Fayetteville, two in Springdale, one in Prairie Grove, and our newest location in Bentonville.  You can also schedule your children's physical exams at the NWA Pediatric Clinic Wellness Center in Fayetteville or at the Lowell Clinic.

Fayetteville Meals on Wheels Accepts Donation

MANA Staff Donates $2,500 to Meals on Wheels
Last month, our physicians and staff at FirstCare West in Prairie Grove presented the Fayetteville Meals on Wheels program with a $2,500 donation from the MANA Charitable Foundation.  Sherri Napier with the Fayetteville Senior Center was on hand to accept the donation on behalf of the board of directors, staff, volunteers and seniors who are served through this program each day.

The Meals on Wheels program is organized through Fayetteville's Senior Activity and Wellness Center. The Fayetteville Senior Activity Center has been operating and serving seniors in the Northwest Arkansas area since the early 1980s.  In July 2003 the Center moved to its new location on South College.

The Senior Activity Center offers arts and crafts, ceramics, pool, a full library, and a complete fitness room with elipticals, four treadmills, weights, and cardio and Nordic Trac bikes.

In addition to activities, the Senior Activity Center provides nutritious meals to homebound seniors throughout Washington County.  Everything in the center is done with the senior and their special needs kept at the forefront.

The Fayetteville Senior Activity Center's purpose is to serve seniors, including those who come to the Center and those who receive home delivered meals through the Meals on Wheels program.

The Center strives to engage seniors both physically, mentally, and emotionally by providing activities that are fun, informational and stimulating.

The Senior Center is run by N.W.A.E.D.D.  The Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, Inc., is a private, non-profit corporation which is responsible for coordinating and implementing a comprehensive assortment of social, recreational, educational, physical fitness, and nutritional services made available to seniors 60 and over while promoting self-reliance and independence to achieve a higher standard of life.
The volunteers who deliver meals to our homebound seniors are invaluable as sometimes they are the only contact the senior receives.  Click here to see how you can help Meals on Wheels.

Through the MANA Charitable Foundation, MANA physicians and staff may choose to auto draft a donation from their paycheck to the Fund. Every year, the participating staff vote on local charities to receive their donation. In
2012, MANA staff members will donate $2,500 each month to a local charity.
