Why do you think your school is a Quality school? We are owner-managed, originally ESOL teachers and have been in ESOL for over 20 years so I think that experience is invaluable. We love doing what we do and love the contact with our students from all over the world. Our ethos is that our school will be successful if we offer our students the best service before they arrive, while they study and after they graduate. What made you join QE? I liked the fact that there is a worldwide quality brand and we felt honored that we were asked to join. Our aim is to be regarded as one of the best ESOL schools in the world and joining QE is an indication that we are moving in the right direction. Carolyn is a great ambassador for Quality education so we also wanted to support this. Why would you recommend QE from what you know so far? I am looking forward to seeing other QE schools and meeting directors that have to deal with similar everyday issues. I think the sharing of ideas will help us to keep up to date with what is happening in the industry worldwide. I also like that there are QE agents that I can contact. What are the main reasons to recommend Queenstown to a foreign student wishing to learn English? I think that the Kiwis are similar to the Irish in that they are very friendly and hospitable. Queenstown is a great destination for students as there is lots to do so the student will have a lot of opportunities to practise their English outside of school as well. | Blaise Barham of SLEC accepts the QE penguin from Carolyn at ANZA in Queenstown

Quality Control visits more schools for Quality control
|
|
| After last year's 'bumper' year for Quality Control visits when eighteen schools were visited altogether, we have started the next 2012 'batch'. Carolyn has recently been to CSLI in Vancouver and to RELA in New Zealand.
The QE schools must have a 'quality control' check every three years - and one important part of this is meetting the students and asking what they think about their experience. Here are some extracts from the reports.CSLI The school engenders fantastic loyalty among its student body through rich and diverse social activities and motivational institutions such as 'student of the month'. Working closely with the alumni is a significant part of their marketing strategy.RELARELA has great strengths and is classed as an excellent school by not only the official audit bodies of NZQA and English New Zealand but also by many of the students who attend courses there. It prides itself on the academic excellence of its teachers and its teaching. So it was a pleasure re-visiting the school and seeing evidence of this first hand. |

East Coast School of Languages recently provided a full 7-week scholarship to Gcinisizwe Noyakaza, the Director ofCommunity Relations and a founding member of The Themba Development Project in South Africa. Gcinisizwe speaks 8 languages but had never had the opportunity to attend school in apartheid Africa. He and founding Director, Catherine Robar, gave a wonderful presentation to the school about their work in South Africa. It was enlightening and humbling and ECSL staff and students contributed $800 to Gcinisizwe's charity. ECSL contributes each month to a charity and The Themba Development Project has become our December charity.
