Students Lend a Hand at the Living Materials Center
|

A special group of intermediate students spent their summer volunteering in the Living Materials Center at Seabrook Intermediate. The "zoologists-in-training" tended to the more than 100 animals including ferrets, iguanas and snakes. Throughout the school year, teachers can check out animals from the LMC to enhance their curriculum and enrich their classrooms with animal-related activities. For more information on the Living Materials Center, visit www.ccisd.net/LMC.

McWhirter Elementary Explores Science Over the Summer
McWhirter Elementary students spent the summer studying the effects of human impact on the shoreline. The students simulated oil spills and researched the best materials for clean up. The Harris County Hazardous Materials Department even came out to demonstrate "real world" clean up scenarios for the students. The students enjoyed this first-hand look at their research in action. |
