STC Company Trip STC 年度公司旅遊 Carnival Cruise, July 8 to July 10, 2011  STC Back from the sun filled South America!! STC Management took all of the team members and friends on a annual company trip. It was a fun fill 3 day cruise trip on the Carnival Cruise Line. A unforgettable 3 days of sun and sea. Not to mention unlimited gourmet food!! Lobster! I see!! I see Lobsters!! We depart from Long Beach on a Friday evening and arrive at Ensenada, Mexico the next day. We went off shore to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere in the town. Fun day at sea on Sunday, and back on Monday.  Please share our experiences with our pictures ! However, don't be surprise if you find less number of photos than you've expected. After all, what happen at sea, stays at sea.... :) Back to top |

39th annual Buckboard Days ParadeParade Application Information 羅蘭崗花車遊行 參加報名訊息
 ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA
Applications for the 39th annual Buckboard Days Parade are now available for community members to participate in the parade, in the festival, or to be a parade sponsor.
Applications can be found on the buckboard parade blog at http://buckboarddayparade.blogspot.com/.
The deadline for parade entry and sponsors is September 23. The booth application deadline is September 15. The Buckboard Days Parade will be held in Rowland Heights on October 22, 2011.
This year's theme for the parade is "The Best Community for Kids." The parade, beginning at 9 a.m., will commence on Nogales Avenue south of Colima Road proceeding north, turn east (right) on Colima Road, turn north (left) on Banida Avenue, and conclude at Rowland Heights County Park, to be followed by a community festival organized by the Rowland Council PTA and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. 第39屆年度 羅蘭崗花車遊行現已接受社區團體申請報名。社區團體可報名參與遊行，廣告贊助商或攤位。報名表請在博客http://buckboarddayparade.blogspot.com/ 下載。遊行和贊助商報名截止日期為是 9月23日。攤位申請截止日期為 9月15日。羅蘭崗花車遊行將於10月22日舉行。
今年的遊行主題為"孩子的最佳社區"遊行，從上午9時開始，將以諾加利斯(Nogales)大道出發往南科利(Colima)馬路北上，在科利馬(Colima)路轉東（右），Banida大道轉北（左） ，以羅蘭崗縣公園為終點。接下來的園遊活動由羅蘭家長理事會和洛杉磯縣公園辦事處聯合主辦。

Signups for the 4th week of the Youth Science Center's summer classes will take place on Monday, July 18 starting at 8 am 哈崗暑期科學營 第四期報名 七月十八日 星期一八點開始
Signups for the 4th week of the Youth Science Center's summer classes will take place on Monday, July 18 starting at 8 am.
Classes are held at Wedgeworth Elementary School, 16949 Wedgeworth Drive in Hacienda Heights.
Classes of interest for kids are: Math Munchies with Lowell Joint Teacher of the Year Teddy Sachs. This class is from 10:15 to 11:45 Monday through Friday and the price is $65. Students will have fun learning math by eating through a math lesson a day. For students going in to Grades 1 and 2.
The Main Attraction. Whittier science teacher Patricia Smith will give a hands-on lesson on magnets and electricity. They will make a magnetic toy each day. The class for Grades 4 and 5 is from 8:30 to 10 am, Grades K-1 from 10:15 to 11:45 am and Grades 2 - 3 from 12:30 to 2 pm. $70 fee.
Newton's Big Three with Mesa Robles science teacher Jennifer Collins will study Sir Isaac Newton and the three laws of motion. This double length class will build and race a Newton scooter! The class for Grades 6 - 8 is from 8:30 to 11:45 am and the class for Grades 4 to 5 is from 12:30 to 3:45 pm. $70 fee.
Other classes starting on Monday include Soda Bottle Science (physics), Crazy About Chemistry, Invention Convention. Let's Get Physical, Website Design and Kitchen Chemistry.

美國台南同鄉會返鄉勞軍兼舞蹈文化交流團出發授旗儀式
應中華民國退伍軍人協會邀請，美國台南同鄉會返鄉訪問勞軍文化交流團於25日啟程赴台。15日下午2時，在洛杉磯華僑文教服務中心舉行授旗儀式。 為慶祝中華民國建國100年,台南同鄉會此次與南加州 舞印舞蹈中心暨舞印製作 （原名蘭陵舞坊）一行50人,赴台參與28 日在台北國軍文藝活動中心的演出。 該團亦將前往台南文化中心以及新營文化中心參演。 台南同鄉會會長蘇俊成表示，這是洛杉磯僑界第一個受台灣政府邀請演出的民間舞蹈團，該團已於10日在洛杉磯首演。 國民黨美西南支部輪值常委廖介民表示，希望舞蹈文化交流團年青成員親身體驗台灣當地民俗。 團員黃冠晴說，非常喜歡台灣，當地美食尤其吸引她。 See the Flyer here See more pictures here Back to top |

Recently, our Officer John Hsu asked us to rate the most important things in our lives. Most of our associates chose "Health", "Love" and "Wisdom", not necessary in that order. And the following article, written by our associates, explained their reasons why......
"Health", "Love" and "Wisdom" | 健康, 愛與智慧

老先生昨晚因嚴重的心臟病而重度昏迷，又喪失了部份知覺，因此當護士告訴他「你兒子在這裡」時，他只看到一個穿著海軍陸戰隊制服的年輕男子身影，站在他的床旁邊。
老先生伸出手，年輕的海軍軍人就用他有力的手握住老人軟弱的手，溫柔的握了握。護士拿了張椅子，疲倦的軍人才在病床邊坐下來。
整個晚上，護士總會聽到年輕人握著老人的手，輕聲的安慰著。就連好幾次護士建議年輕人去休息，就被他拒絕了。
天亮前，老人過逝了。當護士推走老人屍體，處理例行公事時，年輕人也站在一旁看著。護士返回病房想安慰年輕人時，年輕軍人先開口了。
「那人是誰？」他問。
護士嚇了一跳：「他是你爸爸啊！」
「不是啊！」年輕人說：「我從來沒見過他。」
「那我帶你來見他的時候，你怎麼不說？」
「我想是隊上在放我假時出了差錯，因為我們隊上有二個人名字一樣，又從同一個鎮來，編號也差不多，才會誤送我來。」
年輕人解釋，「但我知道老人需要兒子，他兒子又不在這裡，況且他又病的太嚴重而根本認不出我是不是他兒子。」
「當我發覺到他有多麼需要一個人在他身邊時，我馬上決定留下來了。」
