The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department needs the public's help in locating possible additional victims of residential robbery in Rowland Heights and surrounding communities. David Sarun Ry of Monterey Park and Rotaan James of Los Angeles were arrested July 6 on suspicion of forcibly entering a home in Rowland Heights and terrorizing the residents. Officials said Ry and James have been charged with robbery, kidnapping, criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, each suspect could be sentenced to over 100 years in prison.

At about 8 p.m. on June 24, Ry and James, allegedly armed with handguns, forcibly entered a home of a Chinese-American family in the 2500 block of Herlinda Lane in Rowland Heights and terrorized a middle-aged man and woman by binding their hands and feet and threatening them with handguns and a knife. Ry cut the male victim's arm with a knife while threatening him, and the men terrorized the victims for an hour before leaving, officials said. Ry and James allegedly stole the victims' ATM cards, cash, and cellular phones and used them in San Gabriel and Alhambra immediately after the robbery, officials from Operation Safe Streets' Asian Gang Team said. Investigators obtained the video footage from the ATM machines and saw the image of James.

At 7 p.m. on July 6, a deputy with the Walnut Station was patrolling in Diamond Bar when he stopped a vehicle because the driver was talking on his cell phone. James and Ry were in the vehicle and matched the description of the robbery suspects. The deputy also located two two-way radios, gloves, a replica of a handgun, a cellular phone, a bag containing miscellaneous jewelry and beanies inside the vehicle, officials said. The Asian Gang Team responded to Walnut Station and has been conducting an ongoing investigation.
