Burdened for Belfast
|
On a typical night in Belfast, Northern Ireland, drug addicts and tipsy teens are being handed hot dogs and hot chocolate in a local park. A young missionary and his "Nightwatch" team mingle among the groups, handing out food and the Gospel message. Some of these young people are hearing about Jesus for the very first time, all because a brave and compassionate couple answered the call to a city in desperate need of true peace. From Classmates to Co-Workers
|
Every weekday morning, eight Valley Forge Christian College graduates arrive at the same building, at the same time, for the same purpose. Leadership Tools by Dr. Don Meyer
| Sunshine, Glenn S.Why You Think the Way You Do.Zondervan: Grand Rapids, 2009.
Today Christians, at least some, live in timidity and fear of leaving their print on society. They wonder, "How can I have any substantial effect on something so great?"They are but one person in a great multitude. The book Why You Think the Way You Do offers people today the facts of how Christianity had transforming effects on societies throughout history and on the worldviews of the Western world. If it were not for the Christian martyrs of the early centuries AD, worldviews could be even more askew than what they actually are today. The transformation that took place in those early years in Rome has been carried down through the years and has migrated westward affecting the views of many Americans.Although we may not all feel the same way about all issues, many of the generalities that are accepted by the majority find their root in Biblical teachings. Is this coincidence, I think not.God has a plan, and as insignificant as an individual or small group's imprint may seem, God can use it to do transformational things on the world today, tomorrow, and far into the future.
