Oh hi there,

Hope everything's going well with you.  If it is, then we've got some unique and rare  strong beers to celebrate the good times this weekend.  If it's not, then, well...we've got plenty of strong beer in which to drown all of your late winter sorrows!  Either way it's gonna be great!

It's been a while since we've given you an honest-to-goodness new bottle list, so here you are:

New In Bottles

Mikkeller 1000 IBU IPA / Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium / 16oz corked and caged

They say the human taste threshold for bitterness tops out at around 100 International Bittering Units, and adding much more hops would essentially be unproductive.  Mikkeller decided to push it to 1000.  Sure, why not.

Victory Headwaters Pale Ale / Downingtown, PA / 12oz bottles and 6 packs

For over a year Victory has been brewing a pale ale series called pursuit.  They were in search of the perfect pale ale recipe.  Well, the journey has ended and they've found the holy grail of pale and titled it Headwaters.

Fantome Hiver / Soy, Belgium / 750ml corked and capped

Fantome is know as the Saison brewery, and when winter comes, they still have

a saison to offer.  Though stronger and slightly sweeter than their other offerings, it still

carries that characteristic saison yeast flavor.

Bayerisher Banhoff Porticus / Leipzig, Germany / 350 ml capped bottle

A german porter brewed with the wild yeast strain brettanomyses.  Now that's interesting.  Leathery, fruity, and slightly earthy.

Cidre Bouche Dupont Brut / Basse-Normandie France / 750ml Corked

For the fans of artisenal French cider.  Dry and crisp with a fresh apple flavor.

Pripp's Carnegie Porter / Goeteborg, Sweden / 12oz Bottles

An untouched recipe since 1836.  Dry roast, smooth chocolate, and it can be aged for up to 12 years.

Full Sail LTD / Hood River, OR / 12 oz bottles

A small batch lager release from Full Sail.  Just try it!

Troegs Nugget Nectar / Harrisburg, PA / 22oz bottles

If you're not the growler type, and you prefer the bottle, then we've got that too.  Just get it now because when it's gone, it's gone.

Captain Lawrence 5 Years Later / Pleasantville, NY / 750 ml bottle

A black double IPA of sorts brewed to celebrate the meteoric rise of Captain Lawrence over the past 5 years.  5 malts, 5 hops.

Captain Lawrence Nor'Easter / Pleasantville, NY / 750 ml

We had this delicious beer on draft last week, and it flew.  A barrel aged Belgian quadrupel brewed with elderberries.  A great winter warmer.

21st Amendment Bitter American / San Francisco, Ca / 12oz cans

Another American session beer. Hurrah!  4.4% abv, hoppy, malty and delicious.

On Tap This Week's End

On Cask:

Sixpoint Time Out For Porter

Last week Time Out New York released their first ever beer only edition (in which we were thankfully included), and to mark the momentus occasion Sixpoint decided that they would brew a commemorative porter.  Well, as you can see here, this small batch beer was to be poured exclusively at a handful of beer bars in the New York area last week, but somehow we ended up with a cask.
Whoops!  So if you missed it last week, here's your chance to try it.  Tomorrow night at 5.

Goose Island Dominique

Loosely titled an American Wild Ale, this strong Belgian ale is fermented with wild yeast, bacteria, and aged in Bourbon County Stout Barrels.  Very exciting stuff.  If you like the sours, this is your beer.

 Victory Headwaters Pale Ale

Brewer Bill Covaleski from Victory has often remarked that the great success of the Victory Brewing Company can be largely attributed to the delicious clean water from the brandywine river which they use to brew their beer.  That water, combined with the perfect blend of hops and malt have created the ultimate pale ale.  It's AMAZING. Trust me

Avery the Czar 2009

A 10.82% Russian Imperial Stout aged for over a year.  Big toffee notes, maple syrup and chocolate.  Super smooth, rich and lingering.  It's a great sipper for sure.

Eggenberg Samiclaus

Traditionally brewed but once a year on December 6th.  The brewery then ages this incredibly strong lager for one year to smooth and condition the beer.  The result is a super smooth, rich and clean beer.

Captain Lawrence 5 Years Later

It's hard to believe that Captain Lawrence is 5 years old.  To look back and reflect on all those great beer over the years, it brings a tear(s) to my eye(s).  Brewed with 5 malts and 5 grains, this beer could be described as an imperial black IPA.

Avery Joe's Premium American Pilsener

To celebrate Avery's switch from a bottling line to a canning line, they decided to launch a brand new beer.  A pilsener to be exact.  Crisp, refreshing and dry with a pleasant sulfury yeast note and a clean finish.  Delicious, and it's not too strong.

And If You Hurry

(We just put up these kegs, they're very small,

and probably won't last long)

Allagash Grand Cru

A rich and spicy winter Belgian Quadrupel.  Lots  of fruit and clove.

Hill Farmstead Harlan IPA

This beer is amazing.  Just like all Hill Farmstead beers.
