Fun Stuff This Weekend

Hey Brouwerijlanians, Brouwerij Lanians, Brouwerijistas,
We've got some scrumptious beers this weekend including a rare Sixpoint ale, a
new-to-New York cask, and the wet hop hits keep coming from favorites
Victory and Great Divide.  Let's go!...

On Cask:  Firestone Walker Pale 31

The Firestone beers are slowly beginning to trickle in from
Paso Robles, CA, one delicious beer at a time.  Bright and floral
with a medium body.  Here's some accolades to wet your whistle:
        • 2007 Great American Beer Festival: Gold Medal
        • 2007 Men's Journal "Best Pale in the World"
        • 2006 California State Fair: Gold Medal
        • 2006 World Beer Cup: Gold Medal
        • 2005 Australian International Beer Awards: Gold Medal
        • 2004 World Beer Cup: Gold Medal
        • 2003 World Beer Championships: Gold Medal
        • 2002 World Beer Championships: Silver Medal

                    And On The Taps

Sixpoint Sweet Re-action

A Belgian spin on everyone's favorite Sixpoint beer, the
sweet action.  Light in color and body, slightly spicy and
hoppy, and certainly stronger than the standard Sweet
Action.

Kuhnhenn DRIPA Double Rice India Pale Ale

Rice is the scourge of the modern craft beer scene.  With
a few exceptions, including using it as a filtration medium, rice is thought of as a cheap source of sugar with very little flavor,

and a tool of the macro breweries, Bud, Miller and Coors. In this case, however, Kuhnhenn has very artfully used rice
in their double IPA.  It lighten's the body, and allows the hops
to dominate.  Don't sleep on this beer.  It's incredibly quaffable, and packs a deceptive inebriating punch.

Victory Harvest Pils (Wet Hop)

Here come's another one.  This time with a lager yeast.
An impeccably clean beer like all Victory products, light,
dry, and of course hoppy.  The New York hops impart a
dense oil induced haze, and a sharp but lingering finish.

Great Divide Fresh Hop (Wet Hop)

Brewed with freshly harvested hops from the Pacific
Northwest, flown overnight to Great Divide's Denver brewery.
Grassy and delicious.

Erie Brewing 'Ol Red Cease & Desist

Formerly known as Red Ryder Big Beer, the brewery
was forced to change the name after receiving two cease
& desist letters.  A malty 10% scotch ale.  Flavors of
caramel and butterscotch and dark fruit dominate.
