New Brewery Weekend!

Being the third weekend in October, we've decided to highlight a few of the new breweries that

have recently popped up in the New York Market.  We've got draft optons from the likes of

Barrier Brewing, Full Sail Brewing, and the returning champion from last weekend -

Hill Farmstead.  You can find descriptions of the specific beers we'll have below, and as usual,

you can check our current draft list here or follow us on twitter here or "like" us on facebook here

or learn how to make beer shampoo here.  Really restores the luster,  repairs split ends, etc.

Without further adieu, on to the bottles....

This Weekend in Bottles

Hoppin' Frog Double Pumpkin Ale / Akron, Oh  / 22oz bottle
The only Imperial Pumpkin that approaches Southern Tier Pumking.
A bigger body with a little less vanilla.

Pretty Things KK 1901 / Westport, Ma / 22oz bottle
The second edition of Pretty Things "Once Upon a Time" series. Originally
brewed by the Whitbread brewery in 1901.  A strange beer with the hopping of a
modern IPA, yet darker that most porters.  Extremely limited. Get, while the
getting's good.

Sterkins Monsters / Meer, Be / 750ml swing top stonewear crock
Bokrijks Belgian Ale in a collectable, re-usable ceramic jug.  Plus there's cool
monsterspainted on the bottle!

Stone Vertical Epic 10 / San Diego, Ca / 22oz bottle
This years VE is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale brewed with a new wheat/rye hybrid called triticale, Belgian candy sugar, chamomile, Gewurztraminer and Muscat grapes.
It's so strange, you just have to try it.

Stone San Diego Session Ale / San Diego, Ca / 12oz bottle
A collaborative ale brewed by Stone, Ballast Point, and North Park Beer Co.
This beer is a move in the right direction.  Light, drinkable, flavorful and low in
alcohol. 4.2%.

Full Sail Black Session Ale / Hood River, Or / 11oz bottle
Brand New. Comes in a really cool Red Stripe-esque bottle!

The Draft Beers I Was Talking About
(see above)

Barrier Brewing Belgian 1

Yesterday a brewer by the name of Evan Klien stopped by the
store, dragging a hand truck loaded with two fresh kegs.  He is
the owner/head brewer/ delivery guy  of  a new brewery out of Oceanside, Long Island called Barrier Brewing.  He's finally
decided bless us with his artful creations brewed in 1singel barrel batches (2 kegs)  The beers are new to us, so come give 'em a try.

Barrier Brewing Ruthless Rye IPA

Evan Klien,  as a former Sixpoint employee of two and a half
years, knows a good hoppy rye when he sees it. Citrusy, intense,
with a sharp rye tang.

Full Sail IPA

Hood River, Oregon's renowned Full Sail brewery has finally
"dropped anchor" in NYC.  Their IPA is a light, low alcohol,
approachable example.  Easy to drink, and on tap now!

Full Sail Amber

A great balanced amber ale brewed with chocolate, pale and
crystal malts, and hopped with Mt. Hood, and the American
classic - Cascade.  An easy beer, great for pairing with food,
and great for pleasing a crowd.

Hill Farmstead Abner

If the hoppy ales of yesterweekend were any indication, than
this Imperial IPA is gonna be amazing.  Ratebeer scores it a
98 and Beer Advocate gives it a solid A.  It definately won't
last, so check twitter for the tapping.

Hill Farmstead Edward

Another winner.  Beer Advocate A rated American Pale Ale.  Big tropical fruit, piney marmalade.  Grapefruit, tangerine, with a
sharp bitterness andlingering pine resin.  We only have 5
gallons!
