The bitch is back! Sorry, that's just what it's called. This time in cask form! For the 30th anniversary of the Flying dog brewery, they decided to brew something truly crazy. An American IPA with all the citrusy floral notes you'd expect, but using a Belgian yeast strain to impart another layer of fruit and bready yeast Character. They then add an additional dose of American Amarillo hops directly to the cask to boost up the tangerine fruit flavor. Like hoppy liquid fruit salad.

Despite the image, we actually have it on draft. Don't be afraid of this one. If you're not a fan of fruit flavored beers, I challenge you to give this one a try. Rather than using standard artificial "Jolly Rancheresque" fruit flavoring, the guys at 21A brew this beer with only fresh watermelon puree and watermelon juice. It has a great background melon rind quality, and a bright wheat beer flavor.

FIRESTONE WALKER UNION JACK IPAFirestone Walker has finally decided to enter the New York market, and we couldn't be happier. Union Jack is consistantly voted one of the best American IPA examples. Come check it out. You'll see why. |
FULLERS CHISWICK BITTER (or Chisick) For those English Ale Fans, we've got one of the rarer Fuller's Ales this weekend. Light, low in alcohol, lemony, dry and slightly bitter. The perfect session ale. The type of beer you can have a few pints of. |
MAGIC HAT WACKOThat's right, Wacko is backo. (couldn't resist) It caused so much stir last summer that we had to bring it back just one more time. Using beet juice to stain it a beautiful summery pink color. A fruit beer, sorta. It's light, it's easy, its slightly fruity, it's not "triple hops brewed" but it will definitely freak out your friends. |
GREENPORT HARBOR SUMMER ALE
Here's another one from the new Greenport Harbor Brewing Company. This time it's their Summer seasonal simply titled Summer Ale. Quite honestly, we know very little is known about this beer, other than the fact that it a blonde ale brewed for warmer weather. Come have a glass and tell us what you think.
