Amazing Turnout for Firewood Project!
This year's firewood project was our best one yet! There were 65 volunteers at the work site who managed to get about 30 cords cut, split and delivered to income eligible residents in Lamoille County. We feel it's important for those receiving the wood to help with the project if they are physically able, and several of them were on hand to help as well.
Green Mountain Tech's Forestry program took the morning off from classes. Several local agencies and businesses sent employees over to the work site. United Way board members were there, as well as some local folks who heard about the project. There was an amazing show of community spirit from everyone who helped.
Fifteen cords were delivered to applicants on the work day, but there are many more that need to have their wood delivered. There's additional cutting and splitting that needs to be done as well. If you have a morning or afternoon that you can donate to the cause, please contact Dan at RSVP & the Volunteer Center, 888-2190.
Dan and I would like to extend a HUGE thanks to everyone involved. It's because of YOU - our committed volunteers - that this project works.

| The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity Lamoille County Chapter plans on starting their first home to be built in late Spring 2012. The town of Morristown has generously donated a building lot and they are ready to get started!
The next step is to find a qualified family to buy the new home. To that end, they are holding an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Crosby Center (located behind Holy Cross Church) in Morrisville from 5:00-8:00pm. For additional information or to make a donation, please call Karen Noyes, Chairperson of the Family Selection Committee at 253-2557 or 888-6860. As always - donations of time, materials or cash are needed to complete the project. |
GIVE.
If you could help just one person in our community, whom would it be?
* A grandmother in need of a nice, hot meal? * A homeless family? * A single dad about to be evicted? Hard to choose, isn't it? When you give to United Way, the answer is simple. You'll be helping them all.
