Get the Latest on the EITC
The National Community Tax Coalition is holding a policy briefing on "Promoting the Security of America's Working Families: a Review of the EITC's Value and Discussion of 2012 Policy Implications." The EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) is an important credit that can put money back in low-income taxpayers' pockets. Could Your Youth Make the List? 

YSA is seeking nominations for its inaugural "YSA List: The 25 Most Powerful and Influential Young People. Candidates must be between five and 25 years old, hail from anywhere around the world, and have made significant, large-scale change in five categories: Health, Education, Human Service, Human Rights, and the Environment. Winners will be announced on Global Youth Service Day 2012 (April 20-22). Nomination deadline is Jan. 31, 2012. Learn more. 

UN Report Lauds Work of Generations United in Promoting Shared Sites

Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General for the United Nations, recently issued a report, "Preparations for and observance of the twentieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family in 2014." In it, under a section called Intergenerational Solidarity Initiatives, he cited Generations United for our work in promoting shared sites.

Funding Opportunities 

Beverly Foundation's 2012 STAR Awards Program  will award up to 18 senior transportation services program grants of $10,000 each. Deadline: Feb.1, 2012. Learn more. 

 

The Jenzabar Foundation is calling for nominations for its fifth annual Student Leadership Awards. The awards will honor student-led campus groups or activities that have made a significant impact beyond their own institution. Deadline: Feb. 20, 2012. Learn more. 

Disney Friends for Change Grants offer young change-makers an opportunity to receive a $1,000 grant to help make a lasting, positive change in the world. Youth ages 5-18 located in all 50 states and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply. Deadline: Feb. 29, 2012. Learn more.  

The Do Something Awards (formerly the BR!CK Awards) identify exceptional young social entrepreneurs, activists, and community leaders who have a significant social impact and are the pivotal "do-ers" in their fields and causes. Deadline: March 1, 2012. Learn more.

The Skoll Foundation is accepting applications for the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship. The annual awards program recognizes and supports social entrepreneurs who are helping to solve the world's most pressing problems. Applications due: March 1, 2012. Learn more.  


Eisner Prize logoThe Eisner Foundation is now accepting nominations and applications for the $100,000 2012 Eisner Prize for Intergenerational Excellence. Non-profit organizations may nominate themselves. Individuals must be nominated by another person or organization. Deadline: March 16, 2012. Learn more.

Across the pond, in London, Labour Party leader Ed Miliband said in an interview with the Telegraph that, "Intergenerational justice, intergenerational fairness and equality is going to be the issue of the next 10 or 15 years. Is this generation, my generation going to do right by the younger generation?"
