Hurricane Irene

Goodbye Irene, Hello Friend

Even during times of national disaster, young and old seek each other out to create a combined resiliency to whatever Mother Nature throws our way.

Grandparents Week 2011

The Countdown Is On

Usually, the second Sunday in September is Grandparents Day. But given all that grandparents contribute to families and society-at-large, why limit the tribute to just one day? Join us in celebrating Grandparents Week 2011, from September 12th through the 16th. If you're a grandparent, be sure that you and your grandkids visit our special site during that week to find fun and meaningful ways to celebrate. The site will offer blogs, a peek at celebrities who were raised by their grandparents, social activities to do together, and special ways to thank grandparents.

Health Coverage Gains for Children

A new report shows more eligible kids are being enrolled in public health insurance coverage programs. As a consequence, the number of eligible but uninsured children fell by about 340,000 between 2008 and 2009. About 4.3 million children who were eligible for public programs remained uninsured. The report was released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and prepared by researchers at the Urban Institute. Quote of the Week

"Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others."
