Generations United in the News
We received a couple of really nice end-of-the-year media hits in 2010. First, on December 23, when a Letter to the Editor we submitted was published by the New York Times.
The second was an excellent use of our "Family Matters" report in a story from AARP Bulletin. |

Generations United Celebrates Staff Milestones
One of the many wonderful moments from 2010 we were able to enjoy was celebrating a big milestone for several staff members. Deputy Executive Director Jaia Peterson Lent, Special Advisor Ana Beltran and Special Projects Director Sheri Steinig all marked 10 years with Generations United. Program Coordinator Roxana Martinez celebrated her 5th year with the organization. The four were honored at our Intergenerational Summit in November at the National Press Club, and are pictured above with Executive Director Donna Butts. From left to right: Sheri, Roxana, Donna, Ana and Jaia. Congratulations, ladies! |

New Congress Threatens Heath Care Reform
From the Generations United Policy Team:
This week the new Republican-led House introduced a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). ACA greatly benefits all generations by preventing insurers from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions, expanding Medicare and creating exchanges to drive down the cost of insurance for example. Next Wednesday the House plans to hold an up-or-down vote on repealing the health care legislation. The Congressional Budget Office released a report saying a repeal the health care bill will increase the federal deficit by $230 billion and leave millions more uninsured. Download this fact sheet from the White House to see how health care reform is good for the economy and good for jobs. |
